Lies.
My so-called family lied.
My friends lied.
The only guy I ever liked lied.
My mentor, the one I was supposed to trust lied.

My entire existence is built on lies and yet now they want my help. Scratch that, now
they need my help. I'll play the good soldier, but I am no longer the person I was before. This time it will be on my terms. I will trust no one.

I am a weapon. I am Jordyn.

I really enjoyed the second book in King's Daemon Hunter series. And this time we get some of Emrys' POV! His chapters were pretty short and quite mysterious, but I still liked that it was added in all the same. You always have to wonder about the second book in a series, and while I don't feel it was as strong as the first, I still enjoyed reading about what happened to Jordyn after all of the betrayal from the end of the first book.

Jordyn is still as kick ass as ever, but she is also hurting. Having been betrayed and lied to by the people she loved and trusted the most really weighs on her. Having fled these betrayals, Jordyn now finds herself porting from location to location to keep herself hidden from those who can track her. I felt for Jordyn. As a 17 year old, who has no memories, no family, no sense of self- I feel her anger is justified. She has every right to be upset with her family for keeping things, as well as with Emrys for not coming to clean to her especially after he realized the depth of his feelings.

Jordyn, tired of the loneliness and the vagabond life she’s been leading, decides to head back and is immediately ambushed by Haniel, her arch angel mentor, and Emrys. Jordyn then learns two of her friends have been taken and she, along with Emyrs, are the only two who can go in after them. Jordyn is less than thrilled to be partnered up with the guy who broke her heart, but saving the lives of her friends is more important. Emrys, however, is not giving up on her so easily. He is determined to make her see how much he cares about her. However, there were several points during the story where we really began to question Emrys’ allegiance. Is he loyal to Jordyn as he claims or is he manipulating her again?

One addition to the story I loved was Boon. Boon is the 9-year-old boy Sam and Shawn have adopted, who was neglected and abused by his father. For having a rather traumatic past, he has spunk, just like Jordyn. He is a fun-loving kid and I really enjoyed watching him and Jordyn interact. He really looks up to her and I think it’s nice for Jordyn to have a younger perspective hanging around.

This book was action-packed and a very fast read. Jordyn and Emrys must travel to the Caverns of Gloom, where they will face stronger Daemons, as well as face off against old and new powerful enemies. With Emrys trying to win her trust and her heart back, Jordyn is in for quite an adventure! And the ending! I’m super excited to see where Tiffany is going to lead our characters next and how they are going to resolve what their actions inadvertently led to!
