After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an excuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

I was definitely nervous upon starting this one, considering the way the last one ended! Liz was dealt a whopper of a surprise as to the true identity of riverrat and let me tell you it was NO BUENO. *shudder* And quite creeptastic. I was really unsure of how Sam and Liz's relationship would progress in this one (if at all) because of the big reveal, but man I did not expect them to have to deal with as much as they did! This book is one giant manipulation after another and the twists and turns kept on coming!

I was surprised by how much politics played in this one- I thought it would be more focused on Liz and Sam trying to repair their broken relationship, but it turned into much more than that. For these two to truly be happy, they have to deal with everything else that's been thrown at them. There are so many people against them it's kind of mind-boggling. Image is everything in this book and a huge scandal involving Sam has been brought to light and could end everything Governor Guy has worked to achieve. Sam is caught between what he feels he must do versus what he wants to do. He loves Lizzy, despite everything that happened, and wants to make things work with her.

Oh Lizzy. My heart ached for her. This whole riverrat debacle has taken so much from her: a job she loved, the guy she loved and wanted a life with, and it even took her away from New Hope, as she is working in Indianapolis. In the 5 months since it all went down, Lizzy has really been struggling. She isn't taking care of herself the way she should and even her neighbor seems to take notice. I was a little wary of him becoming something more with Liz, but I'm glad Ryan didn't go in that direction. Unfortunately, because of Sam's family's ties with the Guys', Liz can't avoid Sam forever, especially now that there's a scandal thrown into the mix. Sam hasn't been faring much better, but is now stuck between a rock and a hard place. He is forced to lie to the one person he doesn't want to lie to, and makes her feel degraded and he hates himself for putting her in that position. Logically, he knows he should let her go until everything is resolved, but he is too in love with her to do that.

I felt the ending was a bit too rushed for me though. We find out who is really pulling the strings and has been the master manipulator for far too long, and everything kind of just comes to an end. I felt the storyline with Asia fizzled out and I'm still left with questions concerning her. I was glad to see the New Hope girls and there is one relationship blossoming that I was pleasantly surprised by and am looking forward to reading in the future. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the way Sam and Liz's story ended, save for the lingering questions I still have. Ryan writes some sexy scenes between them and I really liked the forbiddeness that came attached to them this time around.

I have been super excited to start Lizzy's story, especially after getting her twin sister Hanna's in the Here and Now series. As twins, Lizzy and Hanna couldn't be more different. Where Hanna has struggled with feeling she has never measured up to her sister in terms of beauty, Lizzy has had her own set of problems to face. Having fallen in love with her best friend's older brother and known the pain of being rejected by him, Lizzy has sought love for a long time, never truly finding it, as her sisters Maggie and Hanna have. Being beautiful and able to get any guy she wants sounds good in theory, but Lizzy is not satisfied with that. She wants the more that puts the glow on her sisters' and friends' faces and she wants it with one guy, one she has never let go of: Sam Bradshaw.

Things with Lizzy and Sam have always been intense. Even though he may have denied her younger self, that doesn't diminish the fact that Sam has had feelings for her all along. He knows it wouldn't be right to take advantage of her, knowing he couldn't give her the more he knew she wanted and needed. After getting her heart broken by Sam one too many times, Lizzy now finds herself looking for love on a dating website called Something Real. She has had numerous dates, none of them producing the results she's looking for. She forms an online 'relationship'  with a user named riverrat69 and she enjoys the easy, sexy banter between them. She doesn't know who he is, only that he lives in New Hope and judging by some of the things he says, she finds herself hoping it's Sam she's talking to.

I know people use online dating services all the time, but the sexting between her and this River, really made me wary and uncomfortable. I know she wants him to be Sam, but there's still that unknown factor and it almost felt she was cheating on Sam with someone she wanted to be Sam... but didn't know if it was. Whew. Confusing, isn't it?

I felt for Sam. He has made some mistakes in his life and now they are coming back to haunt him. His father wants him to make nice with the governor's daughter and all he can think about is Lizzy. He wants her, but knows he shouldn't, especially after everything that happened involving his sister and the betrayal and resentment she still harbors towards her.

I loved getting to check in with our other New Hope couples as well and see them happy. I feel that is so important in connecting series like these.

Ryan has a knack for leaving my heart flayed open at the end of her books, so it's no surprise she did so in this one as well. After the big revelation at the end of the book (a big HELL-TO-THE-NO), I am desperate to see how things will unfold for Lizzy and Sam. I also have a sneaking suspicion Sam's past is also going to be a big part in the next book. March seems really far away about now!

Torn between two men…

When I woke up after the accident, I couldn’t remember anything from the last year—including my relationship with Max Hallowell or anything about Nate Crane. Now my memories are returning, but instead of answering my questions, they’re leaving me with more.

The man who broke my heart and wants to be my future…

Max is all I ever wanted, and now he wants to marry me. He’ll do everything he can to fill my life with love, family, and security. I need those things now more than ever. But can I trust him?

The man who stole my heart and wants to let me go…

Nate never made me promises, and I never asked him to. I’d been on the rebound, looking for a distraction, and he made me feel beautiful and wanted when I needed to feel those things most. He says he has to let me go, but what if I can’t let go of him?

With every revelation and every passing day, I feel more like Alice down the rabbit hole. I’m falling. Who will catch me?

Fall to You is the second book in the Here and Now series. It is not a stand-alone and is intended to be read following Lost in Me. Hanna’s story concludes in book three, All for This.

LEXI. What are you DOING to me?! Besides slaying my heart and turning me into an emotional MESS?! Gahhhh! This series. She is killing it you guys. It's freaking amazing and I have such love for these characters that I'm all tied up in knots and I don't even know what to do!

Pacing: Fall to You is from three different POVs: Max, Hanna, and Nate. I love that Lexi did this. It really allows you to know the other characters better and it makes it easier for me to see whether they are genuine in their feelings or not. I also really like how she's divided the book into Before and After (in regards to Hanna's accident). It is not confusing or hard to follow at all, so I really appreciated that I could follow along with no issues.

Storyline: Where Lost in Me focused primarily on Hanna post accident and her trying to sort out her life, Fall to You delves deeper into the past lives of Hanna, Max, and Nate. That was one of my favorite parts seeing everything play out in different perspectives. I didn't really care for Max in the first book, but seeing things from his point of view really hits hard in this book. I am completely torn between Max and Nate. Ok, maybe that's not entirely true. There is one I favor over the other. Hanna is starting to remember more, but she still can't recall the actual day of the accident. The soonest we get is 5 days prior where she makes a pretty big decision and some really important things are said. We are still left wondering though: Who did Hanna really choose? She woke up wearing Max's ring but still can't recall when she put it back on. I am freaking going crazy trying to figure it out! Hanna is also dealing with the whopper of a surprise she got at the end of Lost in Me, as well as hiding the fact that her and Max aren't together from her mother. Meredith also plays a pretty significant role and damn this girl is bat shit crazy. There was one scene in particular that stands out where Max stood up to her and I was really glad he did- he shows her that her manipulative ways are not going to work on him anymore. He's done. There is a pretty big loop in the book that had me wailing and freaking out and with that being said the ending was even more of a vise to the heart!

Characters: I really like Hanna, I do. She's just incredibly sweet and I hate that she's grown up feeling like the fat girl or that she wasn't living up to her mother's expectations. She's crushed on Max forever and to find out his motivation to hang out with her wasn't honorable, was really hurtful. She has never felt comfortable in her own body even when they were together. However, with Nate she doesn't have that self-consciousness. Her makes her feel beautiful and proves that he wants her. I just felt she connected more to Nate. Yes, she is upset over those beginning text messages between Meredith and Max, and she's essentially using Nate to numb the pain, but along the way he became a necessity in her life. As frustrated as I wanted to be with Hanna, I just couldn't. She is completely caught between two men who really do love her, but want different things. Max wants it all- the life in New Hope, the family, and he's willing to offer it to Hanna. Nate, on the other hand, is determined to not be like his father. He already has a son and he doesn't want his son to feel the same way he did with his dad- like an afterthought. He can't offer Hanna more like Max can, but he desperately wishes he could.

Max ended up surprising me in this book. He really does love Hanna and he owns up to the mistakes he's made. He never expected to fall for her, but now that he has, he just can't let go. He's a decent guy who is willing to go through the ringer to be with her, even when he knows her heart also belongs to another. Either way, one guy is going to get hurt and Hanna's heart will ache for one of them.

I know they don't have a huge role in these books, but Cally and Will, Maggie and Asher totally make me smile. They are all really just precious and you can't help but be happy they're getting their HEA's! There was a moment at the end with one of the couples that almost made me cry.

Final Thoughts: I need the final book. Like NOW. That's my final thought. Oh and you should read this series because it's amazing.

Lost in Me is the first book in the Here and Now series, a spin-off of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Hope series. This sexy amnesia love triangle is intended for mature readers.

~ ~

The last thing I remember is having drinks at Brady’s and trying to avoid eye-contact with my life-long crush—the gorgeous, unattainable Maximilian Hallowell. They tell me that was a year ago, but I have no memories of anything since then. What I do have is this ring on my finger that Max says he gave me, and this much-thinner body I’ve dreamed of most of my life. Aside from a case of retrograde amnesia, everything seems almost...perfect.

But the deeper I immerse myself into this new world of mine—planning a wedding to a man I don't remember dating, attempting to run a business I don't remember starting—the clearer it becomes that nothing is as it seems. Do I have the life I’ve always wanted or is it a facade propped up by secrets I don't even know I have?

I need answers before I marry Max, and the only person who seems to have them is the angry, tatted, sexy-as-sin rocker Nate Crane. And Nate wants me for himself.

~ ~

Lost in Me is not a standalone novel, as the story continues in Here and Now book two, FALL TO YOU, releasing in June.

LOST IN ME is on SALE for just .99 cents the first week of release as a fan appreciation from the author!

Have you ever finished a book that left your heart pounding in your chest and your stomach all in knots? Yeah, I'm freaking out about now over this book. FREAKING OUT. And now I want to cry because I can't wait until June for the next book. Whew. Ok. So, I love Lexi's New Hope series. We got to see a bit more of Hanna in Cally's story Wish I May and I really liked her and her twin sister Lizzy. They are sweet and fun and good friends to have. When I heard Lexi was going to do Hanna's story next I was really excited. We find out she's crushing on Max in Wish I May, but he has been making eyes at her twin sister.

Pacing: Extremely well-paced. I couldn't swipe the pages fast enough! The fact that Hanna has amnesia puts us right there with her because we readers don't have a clue as to what's true and what's not, so it definitely ramps up the anticipation.

Storyline: Oh what a twisted web Ryan has woven! I am still in shock over that ending. It's a total cliffhanger so beware! If it's one thing Ryan has mastered here is that love is messy and things are not always as they seem, that's for sure. There's a lot I can't say because I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say my heart was bounced back and forth between Max and Nate and I honestly didn't know what to think about either of them. I feel like Lexi did a great job of handling Hanna's amnesia. I know some people have a hard time connecting to characters with memory loss, but I didn't. I loved Hanna and my heart broke for her. The love triangle aspect is also really well done and it actually serves a purpose. Fans of Will, Cally, Maggie, and Asher will be happy to see them get some face time in the novel as well. I wasn't quite ready to let them go, so it's nice seeing them pop back up, as they are an important part of Hanna's life.

Characters: Hanna is my girl. Seriously. She has some body image issues, as she's not the thinnest of girls. She jokes around about her weight, but it's not really funny to her friends around her. They think she's beautiful the way she is and they don't like it when she puts herself down. She's been crushing on Max forever, but like I said above, he doesn't give her the time of day. Fast forward eleven months give or take, and now Max looks at her like she's the brightest star in the sky. Oh and they are engaged. Hanna wakes up and suddenly has this perfect life before her and she can't believe that things could have worked out the way they did. Gone are her curves, she's engaged to her dream guy, and she has opened up her own bakery- something she always wanted to do, but always seemed like a distant dream. The doctors aren't sure if Hana will ever get all her memories back, but as she settles back into her life, she starts noticing things that confuse the heck out of her and seem really out of character for her. As the book wears on, Hanna finds that her perfect life is far from it as she struggles to put the pieces together and remember the truth that lies hidden.

Lizzy is Hanna's twin sister, but the girls are quite opposite. Lizzy is the more confident, flirty one, while Hanna tends to hang back in the shadows. The two have grown apart in the time that Hanna can't remember and she is devastated that her and her sister aren't as close as they used to be. I'm really glad they worked it out because Hanna needs Lizzy in her corner to lean and depend on. Maggie, Cally, and Nix are also there, but Lizzy is the one Hanna connects with on a different level. I have to mention their mom. The woman was driving me bat shit crazy. I remember having a problem with her in Unbreak Me, and I still have beef with her. I don't like how dominating she is and the way she treats her daughters. Subconscious or not, it's not right. She is the one charging full steam ahead with Max and Hanna's wedding plans and I hate how she blind-sides them and they just go along with it. Grow a backbone guys!

Max is THE GUY. You know the one. The one you've always wanted and watched from a distance, but never felt confident enough to put yourself out there for. It is definitely curious that we go from Hanna pining over him one minute to them being engaged the next. He looks at her like Will and Asher look at their girls, and he makes her feel beautiful, which Hanna still needs. However, some of his facial expressions betray him and he made me uneasy at times because I felt like he was hiding something from Hanna and it didn't sit right with me. I really do believe he loves her, but I'm going to leave it at that.

And finally we have Nate Crane. Oh, sexy bad boy rocker, Nate. And he's quite the dirty talker! If you'll remember, that's the one of the things I adored about Will. Nate, while rough under the edges, is actually a good guy and a bit of a nerd, which I loved! The book didn't focus on Nate as much as it did Max, so there are a lot of questions still to be answered about Nate and his story. We find out a little bit of it toward the end, but not enough to satisfy me. So what I'm saying is MORE NATE!

Final Thoughts: I couldn't put this down. I absolutely loved the twists and turns it took and Lexi definitely took me on a rollercoaster ride. She has developed great characters in Hanna, Lizzy, Max, and Nate and I CANNOT wait to find out what happens next after the bomb that was dropped at the end. I love the steamy, sexy moments in this book and I was completely pulled into this one. And yes, I've totally chosen my Team already. But I won't tell you who.

All for Love by Rhonda Helms–All Maya Monterey ever wanted was to belong. Happiest with the Abbott family, Maya’s been secretly in love with sexy pastry chef Oliver Abbott for years. All or Nothing by Lexi Ryan—After years of placing the wrong bets, all Aubree Baxter wanted was someone to take a chance on her. Golden boy Kennedy Hale plays it safe in life and love, but to keep Bree in Abbott Springs, he’ll have to go all in.

When I first saw Lexi and Caisey were included in this anthology I knew I had to pick it up because I have so much love for their books! This was my first time reading anything by Rhonda and Marilyn and it will NOT be my last! It was so cool how each author took a different couple, but took the same background and spun it as their own. I loved the Winterfest setting in Abbott Springs! I also really enjoyed reading about all the characters I was introduced to in the first novella by Marilyn. These ladies did a fantastic job of making their novellas flow seamlessly with one another and creating characters you couldn't get enough of!

All About Us by Marilyn Brant was the first one up and it was adorable! I instantly fell for Alex Hamilton! He finds himself in the small town of Abbott Springs as a favor to a friend. The last person he ever expected to see was a girl he met while playing a show. Especially since she told him she'd be in Switzerland. Turns out Sami Abbott told Alex a lot of untrue things and that really stings him. The two connected that night and to find out most everything she told him was false really hurts.

Sami has her reasons for doing so, however. Living in a small town is not the easiest for her. Having everyone see you grow up and form this image of you can be quite suffocating. Sami doesn't want to be 'Sami' anymore. She wants to be Samantha- she wants to be different than the person everyone in Abbott Springs knows. Away at school she can do that. When she meets Alex it was natural to be that other person and not worry about their paths crossing again. Alex is definitely seen as an outsider in Abbott Springs and is met with some hostility, as he's not one of their own. Sami is shocked to see him there again, but all the feelings she had for him come rushing back as she sees him again.

I liked Sami and Alex, but definitely felt for him as Sami lets her insecurities and fears win out, leaving him behind once again. He knows this girl has the power to break his heart and I like that he confronts her and puts that out there for her. He was a good guy and I really liked him.

We got to meet a lot of the other characters in this story so we could be familiar with them in the later books which was really helpful.

All I Need by Caisey Quinn was next and it detailed the story of Justin (Jubb) and Everly. We met them in the last book briefly, as Justin was the friend Alex went to help. Justin and Everly are in a band together and have been best friends forever. Justin has feelings for Everly, but feels she has friend-zoned him a long time ago. Justin has the reached point where he literally cannot take it anymore. He can't continue on with the way things have been between them and is determined to make her his.

Everly was a bit of a stubborn one. She had a hard time accepting what Justin was telling her. Sure she's wondered what it would be like to be with him, but she's afraid of what crossing the line will do to their friendship and their band. Everly, like Sami, has her own set of insecurities. She hates being back in Abbott Springs and especially after how hurt she was after what happened last year with Kennedy Hale. She is desperate to play their gig and get the heck out of Dodge. After Justin puts it all out there for her, he is beyond devastated when she agrees to meet with Kennedy again to talk about what happened between them. Justin doesn't understand why she would feel the need to, especially when he's been a jerk to her. Justin mistakes what's going on with Everly and Kennedy and really makes some rash decisions. I'm glad Everly finally realized what Justin really meant to her, but I hated how hurt he was while she was figuring that out.

All For Love by Rhonda Helms is about Sami's older brother, Oliver, and her best friend Maya. This was a really sweet story, even though Oliver drove me a little crazy! Maya is incredibly sweet and is probably one of my favorite characters. She has been crushing on Oliver hardcore for years, but he's always seen as her as his sister's best friend. This year, Maya is determined to make Oliver notice her. I felt for Maya. She is crazy in love with her best friend's older brother, her parents are never around, her best friend has gone away to school, and she always feels so alone. Yet, Maya has always been the one to smile through the pain and she does her best not to show how much that affects her. Maya has a difficult decision to make in this novella, as she knows her heart can't take things staying the same much longer. She knows she needs to make her feelings for Oliver known and if he doesn't reciprocate, then it's time for her to move on.

Oliver, Oliver, Oliver! He's a great guy, but wow he can be dense! He starts to notice subtle things about Maya early on (like how warm her eyes are and how good she looks in her sweater) but just blames these things on his lack of sleep. Oliver is an important asset to his family's bakery and is a pretty busy guy with Winterfest rolling around. When he finally learns the true nature of Maya's feelings, he's in disbelief. He doesn't know how to act around her and he's afraid of misconstruing his own feelings- thinking that maybe he's only noticing these things about her because of how she feels about him. Maya definitely took him by surprise and it took him awhile to see what had always been right in front of him. He definitely gets stuck on the whole "we're friends" business and that definitely made me mad. Maya seriously is one of the sweetest characters I've read about in a long time and she doesn't deserve to continuously be hurt by the one person she cares about most. Thankfully, Oliver realizes his feelings for her, but will he be too late?

All or Nothing by Lexi Ryan is the last novella in the anthology and wow. I absolutely loved it! I didn't think I would like Kennedy very much, especially after how he treated Everly, but I ended up falling for that boy hook, line, and sinker! I also really liked Bree, Everly's best friend. We have another best friends turned more story, which is cool because that's one of my favorite tropes. Bree and Kennedy have been best friends since they were teens. Bree comes from another important family in the town of Abbott Springs, but has always spent a lot of time at the Hale's and is really considered a part of Kennedy's family.

Bree has been in love with Kennedy since sophomore year in high school and this past October she decided to act on it- in the wrong way. Alcohol was involved and well- it wasn't pretty. Coming back for Winterfest is hard on Bree because she knows she'll have to face the music.

Kennedy isn't blind to Bree. He knows he's attracted to her, but he, like the others, is afraid to ruin their friendship. He knows he handled what happened in October badly and he wishes he could go back and change things. He is angry when he finds out she is moving to Paris and he doesn't understand how she could keep letting her mom let her down time and time again with her false promises. He doesn't understand that for Bree it's easier to go after the people who you know will let you down, rather than place your trust in someone (like him) whose rejection would shatter her.

Kennedy has his own set of issues to deal with though. Being the mayor's son and having all these expectations placed on you isn't easy. His father has his life planned out without taking into account what he really wants. Instead of standing up to him and telling him what HE wants, Kennedy takes the submissive road and that infuriates Bree. She pushes him to be better and to make a stand for what he wants and in turn he pushes her to stop running and realize that she run as much as she wants, but she won't find her happiness that way.

I loved Kennedy and Bree's chemistry. It was probably my favorite in the anthology. They complement each other really well and once Kennedy was able to get over his fear of ruining their friendship and take stock in what an incredible woman he has standing right in front of him, there was no going back for him.

Overall- I thought this was a great anthology! The only disappointment I had was that each novella ended with the MC's making their way to the Winterfest toast they have every year on the Hale bridge. I was really hoping to see them all reunite with one another and toast to new relationships, friendships, and love or something like that, but we didn't. Even then that's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. This is definitely a treat for New Adult readers and I highly encourage you pick it up!

ALL I EVER WANTED is a winter anthology, complete with sledding races, spiked hot cocoa, and ice skating. Are you a winter lover?

Marilyn: I grew up in Wisconsin and now live in Illinois, so I’ve had to make peace with shoveling snow and scraping ice away every winter, LOL, but I can’t say I love the cold temps. I am very, very fond of hot cocoa (both spiked and unspiked), however, and I’ve always enjoyed ice skating and watching the Winter Olympics when they’re on.

Caisey: I love winter clothes, but the actual cold part, not so much!

Rhonda: For the most part, yes! But usually when I’m inside, sitting by a deliciously roaring fire. lol. I hate being super cold, but I do enjoy making snowmen, sled racing, and ice skating. I also like taking outdoor pictures.

Lexi: Maybe I’d say yes if it were a sweltering Indiana summer out my door right now, but instead it’s twelve inches of snow and negative windchills and I’m feeling like I really, really don’t like winter. But I sure don’t mind writing about it.

This anthology is really unique in that all the stories are connected and scenes from one story might appear in another. What was your favorite part about working on this anthology?

Marilyn: I loved the experience of getting to see a scene told in multiple viewpoints by our differing main characters. And it was fascinating to work so closely on a writing project with three authors whose stories I admire so much.

Caisey: Getting to see the many differences and similarities in each of our writing processes.

Rhonda: There was a community created by working so closely together that I’ve never experienced before. It really made me connected to my story and to the others. We were all vested in each other’s novellas, which I loved.

Lexi: We spent a weekend in Louisville to really nail down some of the continuity issues on the anthology. We worked a lot, but we also laughed more than I think I’ve ever laughed in my life. We writers spend an awful lot of time in solitude. It was wonderful to laugh with people who “get” the business like you do..

What was the most difficult part about putting it together?

Rhonda: Oh, all those nitpicky touches, the back-and-forth exchanges of scenes, then going over and over and over it all to make sure we didn’t mess up the timeline. FUN. lol

Marilyn: Yeah, Rhonda nailed it. There were a lot of details!

Caisey: What Rhonda said!

Lexi: To echo what Rhonda said...When we were in Louisville, we sat down at about 10am to start nailing down some of the details. We went page by page through each of our stories. “Oh, here your character says this.” “No, he wouldn’t change it quite like that. Change it to this.” “What’s Maya wearing that night?” “How would Kennedy be acting at the opening address?” Yes! Tons of details! But it was worth it to create what I think is a really unique product.

Obviously, a love of new adult romance brought you four together for this anthology. Name two of your favorite NA reads.

Marilyn: Aside from Lexi’s, Caisey’s, and Rhonda’s stories, which are awesome, I’ve also really enjoyed The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski and Violet Duke’s Resisting the Bad Boy.

Caisey: Oh gosh. There are so many good ones it’s hard to pick just two! My two faves of 2013 were probably Escaping Me by Elizabeth Lee and Break It Up by E.M. Tippetts.

Rhonda: Well, I love all of my fellow anthology authors’ works, lol. Seriously, they’re brilliant--make sure to check them out. But if we go beyond those, I also adored EASY by Tammara Webber and TANGLED by Emma Chase. So good!

Lexi: Oh, yes, I echo what everyone else said. Read them first! Obviously we enjoy each other’s work and that’s why we decided to do this together. After them, definitely EASY by Tammara Webber and ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND (well, the whole series) by Monica Murphy.

From ALL ABOUT US by Marilyn Brant

“I want to hear the song you wrote live,” Samantha said. “Tonight. Don’t you have your own guitar with you? I thought you brought one here.”

“To Abbott Springs, yes. Not to the barn. Mine is back at the B&B.”

“So, okay then,” she said, studying me with those watchful blue eyes. “Let’s go there.”

I exhaled. Slowly. “Listen, Samantha. I’ve had a chance to get a solid look at your town these past two days, and you’ve got a lot of people here who are real protective of you. Half of them are maybe just looking for gossip or to stir up trouble, but the other half are trying to make sure no one hurts you. I don’t wanna cause you any problems, okay? It’s getting late, and well, we should probably—”

“Go to bed,” she finished for me, her voice low.

I nodded. This was the best thing to do, I told myself. The best thing for her. Though, God, I wanted her. So. Damn. Much. I could taste the wanting. Feel it in my fingers. If I touched her, the electricity would leave scorch marks.

“Then we’d better do that.” She leaned close and whispered, “At your B&B.” She snatched her fluffy pink coat and slipped it on. “Time for you to take me to bed, Alex,” she added, her expression so determined I didn’t dare to contradict her. “Right now.”

From ALL I NEED by Caisey Quinn

“You okay, Jubb?” Her eyes were full of concern when she looked up at me from under her thick, dark lashes. The kind of concern no one had ever had for me. Just her. Always her.

I gave her a quick nod and smirked as if it were a silly question. It wasn’t. My need for her had built to a dangerous level, and Hale had thrown gasoline on my fire.

We reached her house and she took out her keys.

I was good until we made it to her door and I caught a whiff of her sweet strawberry scent. She’d used that same shampoo forever, and it had been driving me crazy since we were kids. But we weren’t kids anymore. So I let go. Gave up my death grip on keeping my distance. Stepping into her space, I pressed her up against the door without actually touching her.

“Jubb, what the hell are y—”

“Feel that, Ev?” I grabbed her hand and slid it under my shirt. Her slender fingers grazed my stomach. I pressed her hand against me more firmly. Made her trace the hard ridges of my abdomen.

“Yeah,” she breathed out, gaping up at me with eyes glinting with heat and panic. “I feel it.”

“No more Jubb,” I told her. “No more Jubb, or Jubby, or any other childhood nickname you might have had for me. Call me Justin or Cohen. Take your pick. Got it?”

My face was so close to hers I could hear the sound of her licking her sweet lips. And swallowing. Hard. “Um, okay. W-why not?”

This was it. Go big or go home. Shit, I was already home. Everly was my home. “Because,” I began, releasing her hand to brace both arms on either side of her head, “Jubby won’t sound as hot when you’re screaming it out later. And if I have anything to say about it, you will damn sure be moaning my name in the very near future.”

From ALL FOR LOVE by Rhonda Helms

This town was my everything. My family, my friends, my life’s breath, even. I needed these people. I found fulfillment, purpose here.

My gaze landed on Oliver, sitting with Kennedy, the mayor’s son. Oliver waved his fork in the air as he talked, and Kennedy’s head threw back with a burst of raucous laughter. My heart clenched tight as I watched Oliver’s perfect mouth moving, the way that one dimple in his left cheek deepened as he grinned.

Oliver was such an integral part of me. This love I felt for him, it filled my entire being. It set me on fire. It made me strive to be a better person. One who was worthy of him, the man who was so damned good at everything.

I would see him work hard at the bakery, without complaint, and it made me want to work harder. I would watch the protective way he nurtured his family, his usual gentle demeanor changing in an instant if he felt someone he loved had been wronged, and it made me want to pay that forward and care for others like that.

I tried in a thousand ways, every day, to show him the impact he had on me.

From ALL OR NOTHING by Lexi Ryan

I had gone so far as to tell Kennedy I wasn’t coming home for the festival this year, but much like Paws, I was weak. When Everly called and told me she was going to perform here, I’d known it was the perfect excuse. I’d wanted to see my friends and remember the good old days. I’d wanted to see Kennedy and forget October.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t going to let me.

I scrubbed my scalp and exfoliated my limbs to within an inch of my life, and by the time I turned off the water, my skin was humming.

I grabbed a towel off the heated rack and ran the plush terry cloth over my skin before tucking it under my arms and heading through the bathroom door to the bedroom.

“Did you decide to save some water for the rest of the town after all?”

I jumped at the sound of Kennedy’s voice and clutched at the towel wrapped under my arms. “Holy shit! You scared the daylights out of me!”

He kept his eyes on my face. Of course he did. But I was standing there in a freaking towel, and I would have thought he’d at least look at my legs or the way the towel clung to my breasts or…something. There I stood, weak in the knees just because he didn’t shave this morning, and he didn’t have the courtesy to sneak a peek?

I was pathetic.

So. Pathetic.
