She has a plan. He’s about to change it.
Regan Wakefield is a headhunter in both name and personality: driven, motivated, and unafraid to pursue what—and who—she wants. Naturally, she’s thrilled when her friend's wedding offers her an opportunity to score Logan McCade, the practically perfect best man. Unfortunately, groomsman Brock McNeil keeps getting in her way, riling her up in the most delicious of ways. But Brock’s smooth southern charm isn't part of the plan...so how exactly did they end up having searing-hot sex?
Regan may pretend the erotic electricity sparking between them is merely a distraction, but Brock knows better. She refuses to see beyond the devil-may-care façade he presents to the world, while he sees straight through hers. Changing her mind—and getting under her skin—is a challenge he can’t resist. And when he wins, Brock will do whatever it takes to convince Regan that the best man for her is him.

Seducing the Bridesmaid follows the story of Regan and Brock, two very headstrong and determined individuals. Their 'I hate you but I want you' relationship is quite amusing and Katee writes some awesome dialogue between the two.
Pacing: I felt the pacing in this one went well. Roberts always writes fast-paced romances and they just seem to work for me. Brock wastes no time in making his interest in Regan clear. And Regan doesn't waste time making her lack of interest clear. He is pretty relentless in his pursuit of her, however, which was fun to watch for awhile. I got pretty annoyed with Regan and her assumptions of him, and I honestly didn't see what the allure was for Brock. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts and Roberts knows how to write some steamy, sexy scenes- but it was harder to get behind these two as a couple because of the way Regan treated him for a good portion of the book.
Storyline: Regan has her sights set on Logan McCade, the best man to the groom. Logan is successful, independent, and a decent guy. In short, he's exactly the kind of guy Regan is looking for. She easily dismisses groomsman, Brock McNeill. She believes him to be a lazy playboy, who is catching a ride on his dad's multimillion dollar company train. She couldn't be more wrong if she tried. Brock is actually a good guy who doesn't just ooze Southern charm and money. He may be flirtatious and a bit arrogant, but he's pretty genuine. He wants Regan and the chance to prove to her that he's not all what she thinks. Regan and Brock end up getting involved in a one night, no strings deal and from there, Brock realizes he WILL be the one to crack Regan's tough outer shell.
Characters: I really liked Brock. REALLY liked him. Which is why the way Regan treated him, didn't really sit right with me. Regan has a plan and Brock is NOT a part of it. She refuses to deviate from said plan of snagging Logan McCade, and she thinks she's got Brock pegged when she has NO idea of his character- she won't give him the chance to find out more about who he really is. She does start to have all these conflicting thoughts, as she's not really set on Logan- instead she can't stop thinking about Brock. I really wanted to smack Regan quite a bit throughout the book. I get that she's worked hard to get where she is today and people that don't have to lift a finger to have everything really bother her. It does me too. Still, I don't feel these two spent enough time having serious, real conversations to make me buy into their romance. They do have a few tender moments but I guess I just needed more of seeing them together without so much animosity.
Regan thinks Brock is the golden child in his family, when really Brock's older brother Caine, is the one who always lived up to his father's expectations, while Brock was always left feeling he came up short. This really does bother Brock and he hates that Regan wants someone like his brother and not him. Once Regan realizes just who Brock is and what he's actually accomplished, she's angry at him for not telling her- but why should he have to? Shouldn't he be enough?
Final Thoughts: While I took some issues with Regan and her abrasive nature, this really was a fun read. I always enjoy Roberts' books and the scenarios she creates within them. The banter between Brock and Regan will leave you chuckling one minute and then screaming at them to get their act together the next!
OMG Reagan sounds like she would drive me crazy. I hate when characters just assume things like that. It makes me so mad and I always struggle with it. Great review my lovely friend!
ReplyDeleteI just found out about this series and it sounds so cool!
ReplyDeleteI totes understand your love for Roberts fast-paced romances. Like you said, they just seem to work. I honestly would hate Regan as a character. I can't stand when characters, especially the heroine, assumes things and just doesn't give the guy the time of day based on what she 'thinks'. Its annoying. Brock on the other hand sounds down right swoon worthy! No surprise, its always the fun ones that are the good ones. LOL ;p Glad you enjoyed this, despite your dislike towards Regan, Jessica! Lovely review! :D
