Top Ten Tuesday #39

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

Top Ten Favorite Classics

1. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens ("A life you love...." SYDNEY. SYDNEYYYYYYYY.)
2. On the Road by Jack Kerouac (Oh I just loved this one!)
3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (I never expected to love this as a high schooler, but I did!)
4. The Divine Comedy by Dante Aligheri (The Inferno is my favorite of the three, but I am pretty damn proud to say that I've read this in its original Italian. One of my favorite courses in college was a class focused around Dante's Divine Comedy.)
5. The House of Bernarda Alba (La casa de Bernarda Alba) by Federico Garcia Lorca (One of my all-time favorite Spanish plays)

6. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (I adored this book. I can't tell you how many times I've read it!)
7. The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway (I was fascinated by this book when I read it in HS.)
8. 1984 by George Orwell (The sci-fi fan in me loved this book. And it's crazy how often we refer to 'Big Brother' on a daily basis around my house.)
9. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (Another book I read in HS, I never knew I'd like!)
10. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard (I don't know if this is really considered a classic, but oh well. This book is freaking awesome! If you've read Hamlet and haven't read this book, I'm appalled. Go read it.)

There are so many more books I could've added.... I haven't read many of these in a long time, so I am curious: If I read them again today- would I still enjoy them as much as I did? Hmmm.

  3. Oh nice! I still need to give Frankenstein a go! Bought that recently because it's one paranormal classic (real literary classic) that I would like to try out!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

  4. I can't believe I managed to leave On the Road off of my own list, I love, love, loved that book! I read The Sun Also Rises in high school too but wasn't much of a fan, I think I might pick it up again sometime soon though just to see if my opinion on it has changed.

Leave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!

My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
