If we didn’t know darkness, we couldn’t fully appreciate the light.

Garth Black’s more familiar with this concept than most people are. He hadn’t just lived in the dark for the majority of his life—he thrived in it. With a mom who’d bailed on him and a dad whose understanding of coddling started and ended with a bottle of whiskey, Garth had never been expected to rise to any sort of occasion other than following down the same dead-end paths.

That changed when he fell in love with Josie Gibson. After years of pulling each other closer before shoving the other way, they finally stopped shoving. Josie’s love is like nothing Garth’s ever experienced. He holds it close. He holds it sacred. He would do anything to preserve it and keep it from pollution, even if that means removing himself from the picture.

Garth might have been allowed a temporary furlough to bask in the light, but that pass has been revoked, and he’s been swallowed again by the dark. Will he revert to his old ways of hurting those he cares for most? Will he go back to the same destructive patterns . . . or will it be worse this time?

We can’t know light without first knowing dark . . . and Garth Black’s about to get acquainted with the dark in a whole new way.

I don't even know where to start with this review to be honest. Should I tell you my eyes were full of tears for a good majority of this one? Do I warn you of the emotional punch that it will deliver to you? Or do I tell you point blank how much I love and adore Garth Black and Josie Gibson?

Let's start with the latter. Oh, those two. They made my heart SING in this book. I loved seeing them fall for one another in Finders Keepers and I was so happy to be back in their world. I don't want to reveal too much, as I think you really need to go in and experience this one and the events that play out completely blind. Something huge happens to Garth and Josie, something so unexpected that my mouth literally dropped open when it came. I was in utter shock and I was terrified of how Williams was going to resolve everything. Garth and Josie's world is completely upended and it's how they deal with the aftermath that will really tear you up. Williams does such a beautiful job with their story and even though my heart felt like it was shattering over and over, the unfailing love and devotion is what really made this one soar.

I do think the story was a bit underdeveloped in some places and I couldn't help but want more. I felt there was a bit missing between a few major events toward the end that would have been better resolved had the in between been beefed up a bit more. I realize this is so vague and doesn't make sense, but Garth makes a really big decision and he doesn't play either. He is keen on following through, but then something happens that all of a sudden makes him realize he never should have doubted and that it's all going to be ok. I get his change of heart, but I feel there needed a bit more conversation between him and Josie in between that moment and the ending of the book. And maybe a sexy scene thrown in? ;) Regardless, this is minor to the overall plot. I loved that Williams gave us more to Garth and Josie's story and that she decided to continue it and end it the way she does.

In addition, Rowen and Jesse make a really strong appearance in this book. This ends up playing a key role, as they are also getting one last book called Heart and Soul! I am excited for their last hurrah and also really nervous based on new information we discover in this one. I love Rowen's feistiness and how she calls Garth on his crap. It's definitely fun to watch those two banter!

Losers Weepers is a little sexier than Finders Keepers was, but it wasn't overdone, so those who like their New Adult books on the lighter side, this series is a great one to read. I love Garth and Josie, their banter and their love and devotion to one another. Josie is absolutely a stand-out character in this one and her resilience and unwillingness to give up is what really made an impression on me.

"Love wasn't simple. It didn't come naturally or instinctively or easily. It had to be earned and fought for and could drive a person to insanity just as quickly as it could drive them to greatness, but in the midst of all of that confusion, I knew one thing: I loved this woman. And she loved me."

I’m the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so. I’m one of those people who still believe in true love and soul mates, and would rather keep my head in the clouds any day over having my feet firmly on the ground.

  1. I liked this one less than Finders Keepers mostly because I wanted to smack Garth multiple times throughout this story. I guess I wanted a little bit more? But I did really love Josie. I kept telling Nereyda how great this girl was via text while reading. I loved seeing Rowen and Jesse again although I'm not too happy with the revelation. I just want them all to be happy and it's killing me to see them suffer.
    Lovely review, Jessica!

    1. I did too. Silly Garth. I was like Josie is amazing. Stop it! LOL. But I agree- I'm not thrilled with the Rowen/Jesse angle she's going to take. I know it'll be ok, but still...

I was more annoyed because I just wanted some happy moments between them. And some sexy moments dammit. I still Garth :)

  6. I'm a little concerned about this one. A friend was reading it and telling me what happened early on and it broke my heart. I wanted happy times with Garth and Josie, so I hope there are at least a few of those tossed in too. I love Garth. I did see the other day where Nicole is releasing another Jesse/Rowen book and I'm excited about that one, too! I have to read this one soon for my stop on the blog tour, so expect messages about the feels if they get to be too much. :)

    1. I know Kim. It was so hard to see them going through what they did. But the happy moments did make up for it. I just wish there were more sexy scenes!

  7. I didn't even KNOW this was happening until I saw it was released. Confession time: I haven't even read finders keepers yet!!! I've been MEANING to. another book I need to buy once my ban is over! I was kinda iffy ont he premise of this one just because it sounded like finders keepers had a HEA and I tend to dislike when authors throw another conflict at their characters for another book. it bugs me. i think that's why i liked lost and found so much more than near and far. anyway. all that said, i did love both of them SO. need to get to this. Also!! The above comment -- she's releasing another jesse/rowen book!!? whaaat ! i'm running off to GR after this.
