New Adult bestselling author Monica Murphy winds up her sensational series with this sexy story of two college kids with nothing in common but a bunch of baggage and a burning attraction.

Over. That about sums up everything in my life. Suspended from my college football team and forced to cut back my hours at The District bar because of my crappy grades, I can’t keep turning to my sister, Fable, and her pro-football playing husband, Drew, to bail me out. I just can’t seem to find my own way. Weed and sex are irresistible temptations—and it’s messed up that I secretly hand over money to our junkie mom. A tutor is the last thing I want right now—until I get a look at her.

Chelsea is not my type at all. She’s smart and totally shy. I’m pretty sure she’s even a virgin. But when she gives me the once over with those piercing blue eyes, I’m really over. But in a different way. I won’t deny her ass is killer, but it’s her brain and the way she seems to crave love—like no one’s ever given her any—that make me want her more than any girl I’ve ever met. But what would someone as seemingly together as her ever see in a screwed up guy like me?

When I first heard Monica was writing Owen's story I was ecstatic! We first meet him at age 13 and he already has his own set of problems. He has no father figure, a worthless mother, and only his sister to keep him on track. Fable is so busy working to provide for the two of them, that Owen is left on his own quite a bit and has no stability in his life. He believes deep down his mother loves him and just doesn't know how get a handle on things. However, the day she packed up all of their things and blew out of there, Owen is left stunned and heartbroken.

I love how good of a sister Fable is to Owen. She believes in him and refuses to let him destroy his life like their mother did. We got a little taste of adult Owen in Drew+Fable Forever and it's nice to see him grown up and striving to be better. He absolutely idolizes Drew and when his coaches compare the two, he feels such a surge of pride because he knows what a good man Drew is and all that he's had to overcome to get to where he is. Owen likes making him proud and hates disappointing both him and Fable. But lately, things just haven't been working out for him. He's making some pretty bad choices with drugs and grades and now his spot on the football team, the one thing he loves doing, is being threatened unless he gets his act together.

Owen wants to do what is right, but he is being pulled in two totally different directions and feels he's living a double live: one where he's a good brother and the other where he's being a good son. Owen's mother is back in the picture and uses him for money and drugs. He can't bear to turn her away- she's his mother and no matter how much he hates and resents her for being the kind of woman she is, he can't say no to her. He clings to the idea of her as a mother, but realizes she's never going to change and she's only going to bring him down with her. He knows if Fable ever found out she would be incredibly upset and hurt.

Chelsea Simmons is hands down one of the best things to ever happen to him. She is the good amidst the tainted and he finds himself drawn to the innocent, sweet girl. He is attracted to her and even though he claims she's not what he wants he is drawn to who she is and the goodness that surrounds her. Owen needs more positive influences in his life, and since Drew, Fable, and Autumn live away from him, Chelsea is good for him. His friends Wade and Des, are also into drugs and partying and don't help when it comes to getting clean. I will say, Wade does end up being a good friend to Owen, but it took a while to see that. He rags on Owen about Chelsea and is angry that Owen told Des not to come around the house anymore.

I couldn't help but feel for Chelsea. She has grown up watching her father hurt her mom over and over again and really resents him for all of his back and forth. She isn't interested in dating or having a relationship for fear she'll give herself to someone, only to have them do the same thing as her dad- taking all the good parts of her and just walking away. She claims she doesn't need a man to define her, but the moment she meets Owen all bets are off. She doesn't want to be attracted to this hard-edged boy, but she can't help it. She feels safe with him and bit by bit trusts him enough to give him her heart. Placing your trust in another person is always risky and this is no exception. Owen wants to prove he's worthy of Chelsea and her trust, but still has some obstacles in his way.

There were moments I wanted to scream at Owen for being so stupid and immature- he finally has a good thing going but he lets his weaknesses control and consume him. Owen is such a good guy who has just been dealt some really crappy hands in his life. He has great people who support and love him and now he just needs to figure out how to let go of the things that bring him down and embrace those who build him back up.

Overall, I loved this conclusion to Monica's series. We got to see Drew and Fable and how much those two have evolved from when we first met them, we briefly hear how Jen and Colin are doing, and above all we got to see the lost 13 year old kid grow into a man who has found a good woman to keep him happy and love unconditionally. I am sad to let this series go, but I am so happy that Monica really did her characters justice and took them in the direction she did. Even the most broken of people can find happiness and freedom to live their lives the way they want and deserve.

Hey Monica! I'm so excited to have you on the blog today! I am such a big fan of the Drew and Fable series, so I am thrilled we are getting Owen's book in Four Years Later!

So glad to be here Jessica! Thanks for having me!

Was Owen's story one you always wanted to write or did it come as a surprise to you?

Originally, I created Owen to give Fable someone to love. She has a terrible mother, an absent father, a bad reputation and a chip on her shoulder. She needed someone to soften her hard edges so I created Owen.

By the time I finished SECOND CHANCE BOYFRIEND, I knew I wanted to write Owen's story. So yeah... I guess his book came as a surprise to me. :)

How would you describe Four Years Later in 10 words or less?

Sweet, sexy, messy, emotional, funny, filthy, hopeful love.

What was your favorite scene to write in the book?

So many because FYL was such a joy to write! The characters both really spoke to me. If I had to choose one scene in particular that was a favorite, I'd have to say the first time Owen and Chelsea kissed.

Oh, I loved that scene! So many feels! You've written Drew, Fable, Jen, Colin, and now Owen. Which character was your favorite to write?

I have serious mad love for Fable. I love how loyal and feisty and protective she is. I'd say she's my favorite of them all but I hate to say that because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Ha ha ha.

If could cast Owen and Chelsea- who would you cast them as?

Such a tough question because I don't really see any actors, etc. in my head while writing them. They're just... there. In my head, which might be a scary place to be.

Is there a song that comes to mind when you think of Owen and Chelsea's relationship?

I have an extensive playlist on Spotify and there are so many songs that remind me of Owen and Chelsea! This was a book that was definitely musically driven. There's a song by the 90's band Candlebox called Blossom that reminds me of Owen and Chelsea every time I hear it. I even mention the song in the book. You can check out the entire playlist here:

What books have you read lately that you think everyone should know about and read?

Okay I was just on vacation and read two books that I thought were amazing. RECONSTRUCTING AMELIA by Kimberly McCreight is not my usual read. I'd call it women's fiction, part thriller, part mystery, part YA and totally awesome.

Second book I read was BEFORE JAMAICA LANE by Samantha Young. I love the Dublin Street series and this book doesn't disappoint. So hot and romantic.

How would you describe yourself in 5 words or less?

Wife, mom, daughter, and friend.

If you could live anywhere in the world- where would you live?

The vacation I just mentioned was in Maui and oh my word, I'd move there in a heartbeat!

What is one of your guilty pleasures?

As I answer your questions I'm munching on smokehouse almonds. I have to put them in a tiny bowl so I don't eat too many. LOVE them.

I also love purses. A lot. My husband would say too much. :)

You've wrapped up your Billionaire Bachelor's Club series, as well as this series- what's next for you?

Ummm, I might NOT have wrapped up my Billionaire Bachelor's Club series. There just might be one more novella coming out some time in the early summer, letting all the readers know what happened to those smokin' hot non-bachelors and the ladies who love them. More details coming soon....

(FLAILS!!!!!! YES! I was so hoping for that!)

I also have a few things in the works. Secret projects I hope I can announce sooner rather than later.

Thanks so much for chatting with me today Monica!

And thank you for having me! It's always a pleasure. :)

My Rating: 4.5/5 stars

Winterfest is heating up in Abbott Springs...

As the town’s yearly festival kicks off, cold days turn into steamy nights, new flames will be ignited, and old romances will be rekindled.

All About Us by Marilyn Brant—All Sami Abbott ever wanted was permission to be herself. At home, she aims to be the perfect daughter but never measures up. At college, she’s the bold girl who had a one-night stand with sexy musician, Alex Hamilton. When he arrives unexpectedly in Abbott Springs, her worlds collide and she must reconcile the girl she tries to be with the person she really is.

All I Need by Caisey Quinn–All pink-haired rocker chick Everly Abbott thought she wanted was acceptance in her straight-laced hometown. But her best friend and bandmate Justin Cohen is about to show her that what she thinks she wants isn’t necessarily what she needs.

All for Love by Rhonda Helms–All Maya Monterey ever wanted was to belong. Happiest with the Abbott family, Maya’s been secretly in love with sexy pastry chef Oliver Abbott for years. With a flirty new look, she’ll pull out all the stops to get him to notice her. And if her plan fails, she’ll walk away from the only home she’s ever known–and Oliver–for good.

All or Nothing by Lexi Ryan—After years of placing the wrong bets, all Aubree Baxter wanted was someone to take a chance on her. Golden boy Kennedy Hale plays it safe in life and love, but to keep Bree in Abbott Springs, he’ll have to go all in.

When I first saw Lexi and Caisey were included in this anthology I knew I had to pick it up because I have so much love for their books! This was my first time reading anything by Rhonda and Marilyn and it will NOT be my last! It was so cool how each author took a different couple, but took the same background and spun it as their own. I loved the Winterfest setting in Abbott Springs! I also really enjoyed reading about all the characters I was introduced to in the first novella by Marilyn. These ladies did a fantastic job of making their novellas flow seamlessly with one another and creating characters you couldn't get enough of!

All About Us by Marilyn Brant was the first one up and it was adorable! I instantly fell for Alex Hamilton! He finds himself in the small town of Abbott Springs as a favor to a friend. The last person he ever expected to see was a girl he met while playing a show. Especially since she told him she'd be in Switzerland. Turns out Sami Abbott told Alex a lot of untrue things and that really stings him. The two connected that night and to find out most everything she told him was false really hurts.

Sami has her reasons for doing so, however. Living in a small town is not the easiest for her. Having everyone see you grow up and form this image of you can be quite suffocating. Sami doesn't want to be 'Sami' anymore. She wants to be Samantha- she wants to be different than the person everyone in Abbott Springs knows. Away at school she can do that. When she meets Alex it was natural to be that other person and not worry about their paths crossing again. Alex is definitely seen as an outsider in Abbott Springs and is met with some hostility, as he's not one of their own. Sami is shocked to see him there again, but all the feelings she had for him come rushing back as she sees him again.

I liked Sami and Alex, but definitely felt for him as Sami lets her insecurities and fears win out, leaving him behind once again. He knows this girl has the power to break his heart and I like that he confronts her and puts that out there for her. He was a good guy and I really liked him.

We got to meet a lot of the other characters in this story so we could be familiar with them in the later books which was really helpful.

All I Need by Caisey Quinn was next and it detailed the story of Justin (Jubb) and Everly. We met them in the last book briefly, as Justin was the friend Alex went to help. Justin and Everly are in a band together and have been best friends forever. Justin has feelings for Everly, but feels she has friend-zoned him a long time ago. Justin has the reached point where he literally cannot take it anymore. He can't continue on with the way things have been between them and is determined to make her his.

Everly was a bit of a stubborn one. She had a hard time accepting what Justin was telling her. Sure she's wondered what it would be like to be with him, but she's afraid of what crossing the line will do to their friendship and their band. Everly, like Sami, has her own set of insecurities. She hates being back in Abbott Springs and especially after how hurt she was after what happened last year with Kennedy Hale. She is desperate to play their gig and get the heck out of Dodge. After Justin puts it all out there for her, he is beyond devastated when she agrees to meet with Kennedy again to talk about what happened between them. Justin doesn't understand why she would feel the need to, especially when he's been a jerk to her. Justin mistakes what's going on with Everly and Kennedy and really makes some rash decisions. I'm glad Everly finally realized what Justin really meant to her, but I hated how hurt he was while she was figuring that out.

All For Love by Rhonda Helms is about Sami's older brother, Oliver, and her best friend Maya. This was a really sweet story, even though Oliver drove me a little crazy! Maya is incredibly sweet and is probably one of my favorite characters. She has been crushing on Oliver hardcore for years, but he's always seen as her as his sister's best friend. This year, Maya is determined to make Oliver notice her. I felt for Maya. She is crazy in love with her best friend's older brother, her parents are never around, her best friend has gone away to school, and she always feels so alone. Yet, Maya has always been the one to smile through the pain and she does her best not to show how much that affects her. Maya has a difficult decision to make in this novella, as she knows her heart can't take things staying the same much longer. She knows she needs to make her feelings for Oliver known and if he doesn't reciprocate, then it's time for her to move on.

Oliver, Oliver, Oliver! He's a great guy, but wow he can be dense! He starts to notice subtle things about Maya early on (like how warm her eyes are and how good she looks in her sweater) but just blames these things on his lack of sleep. Oliver is an important asset to his family's bakery and is a pretty busy guy with Winterfest rolling around. When he finally learns the true nature of Maya's feelings, he's in disbelief. He doesn't know how to act around her and he's afraid of misconstruing his own feelings- thinking that maybe he's only noticing these things about her because of how she feels about him. Maya definitely took him by surprise and it took him awhile to see what had always been right in front of him. He definitely gets stuck on the whole "we're friends" business and that definitely made me mad. Maya seriously is one of the sweetest characters I've read about in a long time and she doesn't deserve to continuously be hurt by the one person she cares about most. Thankfully, Oliver realizes his feelings for her, but will he be too late?

All or Nothing by Lexi Ryan is the last novella in the anthology and wow. I absolutely loved it! I didn't think I would like Kennedy very much, especially after how he treated Everly, but I ended up falling for that boy hook, line, and sinker! I also really liked Bree, Everly's best friend. We have another best friends turned more story, which is cool because that's one of my favorite tropes. Bree and Kennedy have been best friends since they were teens. Bree comes from another important family in the town of Abbott Springs, but has always spent a lot of time at the Hale's and is really considered a part of Kennedy's family.

Bree has been in love with Kennedy since sophomore year in high school and this past October she decided to act on it- in the wrong way. Alcohol was involved and well- it wasn't pretty. Coming back for Winterfest is hard on Bree because she knows she'll have to face the music.

Kennedy isn't blind to Bree. He knows he's attracted to her, but he, like the others, is afraid to ruin their friendship. He knows he handled what happened in October badly and he wishes he could go back and change things. He is angry when he finds out she is moving to Paris and he doesn't understand how she could keep letting her mom let her down time and time again with her false promises. He doesn't understand that for Bree it's easier to go after the people who you know will let you down, rather than place your trust in someone (like him) whose rejection would shatter her.

Kennedy has his own set of issues to deal with though. Being the mayor's son and having all these expectations placed on you isn't easy. His father has his life planned out without taking into account what he really wants. Instead of standing up to him and telling him what HE wants, Kennedy takes the submissive road and that infuriates Bree. She pushes him to be better and to make a stand for what he wants and in turn he pushes her to stop running and realize that she run as much as she wants, but she won't find her happiness that way.

I loved Kennedy and Bree's chemistry. It was probably my favorite in the anthology. They complement each other really well and once Kennedy was able to get over his fear of ruining their friendship and take stock in what an incredible woman he has standing right in front of him, there was no going back for him.

Overall- I thought this was a great anthology! The only disappointment I had was that each novella ended with the MC's making their way to the Winterfest toast they have every year on the Hale bridge. I was really hoping to see them all reunite with one another and toast to new relationships, friendships, and love or something like that, but we didn't. Even then that's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. This is definitely a treat for New Adult readers and I highly encourage you pick it up!

ALL I EVER WANTED is a winter anthology, complete with sledding races, spiked hot cocoa, and ice skating. Are you a winter lover?

Marilyn: I grew up in Wisconsin and now live in Illinois, so I’ve had to make peace with shoveling snow and scraping ice away every winter, LOL, but I can’t say I love the cold temps. I am very, very fond of hot cocoa (both spiked and unspiked), however, and I’ve always enjoyed ice skating and watching the Winter Olympics when they’re on.

Caisey: I love winter clothes, but the actual cold part, not so much!

Rhonda: For the most part, yes! But usually when I’m inside, sitting by a deliciously roaring fire. lol. I hate being super cold, but I do enjoy making snowmen, sled racing, and ice skating. I also like taking outdoor pictures.

Lexi: Maybe I’d say yes if it were a sweltering Indiana summer out my door right now, but instead it’s twelve inches of snow and negative windchills and I’m feeling like I really, really don’t like winter. But I sure don’t mind writing about it.

This anthology is really unique in that all the stories are connected and scenes from one story might appear in another. What was your favorite part about working on this anthology?

Marilyn: I loved the experience of getting to see a scene told in multiple viewpoints by our differing main characters. And it was fascinating to work so closely on a writing project with three authors whose stories I admire so much.

Caisey: Getting to see the many differences and similarities in each of our writing processes.

Rhonda: There was a community created by working so closely together that I’ve never experienced before. It really made me connected to my story and to the others. We were all vested in each other’s novellas, which I loved.

Lexi: We spent a weekend in Louisville to really nail down some of the continuity issues on the anthology. We worked a lot, but we also laughed more than I think I’ve ever laughed in my life. We writers spend an awful lot of time in solitude. It was wonderful to laugh with people who “get” the business like you do..

What was the most difficult part about putting it together?

Rhonda: Oh, all those nitpicky touches, the back-and-forth exchanges of scenes, then going over and over and over it all to make sure we didn’t mess up the timeline. FUN. lol

Marilyn: Yeah, Rhonda nailed it. There were a lot of details!

Caisey: What Rhonda said!

Lexi: To echo what Rhonda said...When we were in Louisville, we sat down at about 10am to start nailing down some of the details. We went page by page through each of our stories. “Oh, here your character says this.” “No, he wouldn’t change it quite like that. Change it to this.” “What’s Maya wearing that night?” “How would Kennedy be acting at the opening address?” Yes! Tons of details! But it was worth it to create what I think is a really unique product.

Obviously, a love of new adult romance brought you four together for this anthology. Name two of your favorite NA reads.

Marilyn: Aside from Lexi’s, Caisey’s, and Rhonda’s stories, which are awesome, I’ve also really enjoyed The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski and Violet Duke’s Resisting the Bad Boy.

Caisey: Oh gosh. There are so many good ones it’s hard to pick just two! My two faves of 2013 were probably Escaping Me by Elizabeth Lee and Break It Up by E.M. Tippetts.

Rhonda: Well, I love all of my fellow anthology authors’ works, lol. Seriously, they’re brilliant--make sure to check them out. But if we go beyond those, I also adored EASY by Tammara Webber and TANGLED by Emma Chase. So good!

Lexi: Oh, yes, I echo what everyone else said. Read them first! Obviously we enjoy each other’s work and that’s why we decided to do this together. After them, definitely EASY by Tammara Webber and ONE WEEK GIRLFRIEND (well, the whole series) by Monica Murphy.

From ALL ABOUT US by Marilyn Brant

“I want to hear the song you wrote live,” Samantha said. “Tonight. Don’t you have your own guitar with you? I thought you brought one here.”

“To Abbott Springs, yes. Not to the barn. Mine is back at the B&B.”

“So, okay then,” she said, studying me with those watchful blue eyes. “Let’s go there.”

I exhaled. Slowly. “Listen, Samantha. I’ve had a chance to get a solid look at your town these past two days, and you’ve got a lot of people here who are real protective of you. Half of them are maybe just looking for gossip or to stir up trouble, but the other half are trying to make sure no one hurts you. I don’t wanna cause you any problems, okay? It’s getting late, and well, we should probably—”

“Go to bed,” she finished for me, her voice low.

I nodded. This was the best thing to do, I told myself. The best thing for her. Though, God, I wanted her. So. Damn. Much. I could taste the wanting. Feel it in my fingers. If I touched her, the electricity would leave scorch marks.

“Then we’d better do that.” She leaned close and whispered, “At your B&B.” She snatched her fluffy pink coat and slipped it on. “Time for you to take me to bed, Alex,” she added, her expression so determined I didn’t dare to contradict her. “Right now.”

From ALL I NEED by Caisey Quinn

“You okay, Jubb?” Her eyes were full of concern when she looked up at me from under her thick, dark lashes. The kind of concern no one had ever had for me. Just her. Always her.

I gave her a quick nod and smirked as if it were a silly question. It wasn’t. My need for her had built to a dangerous level, and Hale had thrown gasoline on my fire.

We reached her house and she took out her keys.

I was good until we made it to her door and I caught a whiff of her sweet strawberry scent. She’d used that same shampoo forever, and it had been driving me crazy since we were kids. But we weren’t kids anymore. So I let go. Gave up my death grip on keeping my distance. Stepping into her space, I pressed her up against the door without actually touching her.

“Jubb, what the hell are y—”

“Feel that, Ev?” I grabbed her hand and slid it under my shirt. Her slender fingers grazed my stomach. I pressed her hand against me more firmly. Made her trace the hard ridges of my abdomen.

“Yeah,” she breathed out, gaping up at me with eyes glinting with heat and panic. “I feel it.”

“No more Jubb,” I told her. “No more Jubb, or Jubby, or any other childhood nickname you might have had for me. Call me Justin or Cohen. Take your pick. Got it?”

My face was so close to hers I could hear the sound of her licking her sweet lips. And swallowing. Hard. “Um, okay. W-why not?”

This was it. Go big or go home. Shit, I was already home. Everly was my home. “Because,” I began, releasing her hand to brace both arms on either side of her head, “Jubby won’t sound as hot when you’re screaming it out later. And if I have anything to say about it, you will damn sure be moaning my name in the very near future.”

From ALL FOR LOVE by Rhonda Helms

This town was my everything. My family, my friends, my life’s breath, even. I needed these people. I found fulfillment, purpose here.

My gaze landed on Oliver, sitting with Kennedy, the mayor’s son. Oliver waved his fork in the air as he talked, and Kennedy’s head threw back with a burst of raucous laughter. My heart clenched tight as I watched Oliver’s perfect mouth moving, the way that one dimple in his left cheek deepened as he grinned.

Oliver was such an integral part of me. This love I felt for him, it filled my entire being. It set me on fire. It made me strive to be a better person. One who was worthy of him, the man who was so damned good at everything.

I would see him work hard at the bakery, without complaint, and it made me want to work harder. I would watch the protective way he nurtured his family, his usual gentle demeanor changing in an instant if he felt someone he loved had been wronged, and it made me want to pay that forward and care for others like that.

I tried in a thousand ways, every day, to show him the impact he had on me.

From ALL OR NOTHING by Lexi Ryan

I had gone so far as to tell Kennedy I wasn’t coming home for the festival this year, but much like Paws, I was weak. When Everly called and told me she was going to perform here, I’d known it was the perfect excuse. I’d wanted to see my friends and remember the good old days. I’d wanted to see Kennedy and forget October.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t going to let me.

I scrubbed my scalp and exfoliated my limbs to within an inch of my life, and by the time I turned off the water, my skin was humming.

I grabbed a towel off the heated rack and ran the plush terry cloth over my skin before tucking it under my arms and heading through the bathroom door to the bedroom.

“Did you decide to save some water for the rest of the town after all?”

I jumped at the sound of Kennedy’s voice and clutched at the towel wrapped under my arms. “Holy shit! You scared the daylights out of me!”

He kept his eyes on my face. Of course he did. But I was standing there in a freaking towel, and I would have thought he’d at least look at my legs or the way the towel clung to my breasts or…something. There I stood, weak in the knees just because he didn’t shave this morning, and he didn’t have the courtesy to sneak a peek?

I was pathetic.

So. Pathetic.

When you’re acting the role of a lifetime, how can you know if love is real—or all just a part of the show?

Twenty-three year old rising theatre star Jill McCormick has built a life out of pretending. Pretending she’s happy, pretending her long-distance crushes add up to something real, pretending she’s not haunted by the dark secret that shattered her world six years ago.

Cast in her first Broadway show, she desperately needs to keep her façade intact, but that’s before she comes face to face with her devastating new boss…Hot-shot director Davis Milo knows the first rule of directing: never fall for your leading lady. Captivated by Jill’s raw talent, he fights his feelings, but watching Jill on-stage with another man is more than his jealous streak can take. Keeping things professional isn’t an option. He wants all of her.

Soon the ingénue and her director are staying late in the empty theatre, their private rehearsals spiraling into new, forbidden territory. Caught up between fiction and reality, Jill struggles to find the truth in all their staged kisses. But how can she be sure that what she feels is real, and not a part of the play? And when two people spend their lives pretending, what happens after the final curtain falls?

My Review:

Sigh. Lauren has done it again! She has created a cast of incredibly sexy characters that have such strong sexual tension and chemistry it makes you want to scream! But this time- our male lead isn't just a regular male: he is 100% ALPHA! Excuse me, while I let my raging hormones chill out for a minute before launching into this review.... I won't even lie. I'm addicted to Lauren's books. They are smart, sexy, fun, and oh so delicious. I really loved the level of depth Lauren added to this novel. It really made you root even harder for Jill and Davis to get the happy ending they both deserved.

Jill is such a sweet character. I really loved reading about her. She is a budding actress who is trying to score her first part on Broadway. I personally really connected to Jill because I myself wanted to be an actress on Broadway. I lived for the theater so I could really feel how passionate she was about it, the thrill of being on stage, of being someone completely different. Acting was also a release, an outlet for Jill. It was there for her when she felt no one else could be and it was able to help ease the pain and guilt she felt for something that happened from when she was a teenager. I hate that she is still punishing herself over something she really had no control over and that she still let the pain of her past control her.

She saw Patrick Carlson for the first time while he was doing Guys and Dolls and after meeting him briefly and exchanging kind words with him- he really became a hero in her 17 year old eyes. When Jill earns her first role in Crash the Moon, a musical directed by the great Davis Milo, only to find out Patrick has also been cast she is ecstatic. Jill is sweet and almost a bit naïve. She believes she is in love with Patrick- and hopes to make him see the woman she is. However, Jill never counted on Davis Milo becoming such a big part of her life....

Oh, Davis. What can I say?! He made me swoon so many times! He is a powerhouse director who knows what he wants. And he wants Jill to be his lead. However, bureaucracy wins out and he is forced to cast her as part of his chorus, but not without casting her as the famous Alexis Carbone's understudy first. I like that Davis is powerful- he does not back down from a challenge, yet after having his heart broken by an actress in the past- he has sworn off dating and getting involved with them. As attracted as he is to Jill, he knows he can't go down that road again.  However, he can't help but be attracted to her- she's sweet, sexy, funny, and he genuinely enjoys being in her company.

Their relationship is a tricky one. Both go back and forth trying to deny their feelings for one another, but holy gods above- they have such passion when they're together. Jill is still caught up with her 17 year old self believing she is in love with Patrick, when really it's just a fantasy of a 17 year old girl who needed something to cling to in order to keep from drowning. What she experiences with Davis is on a completely different level- he makes her feel things she only ever read about her in books and really makes her come alive with the intensity of his words and actions.

Watching them both discover how much they need each other is beautiful, sexy, and endearing all at the same time. Jill has to let the pain of her past fall away and allow herself forgiveness before she can truly move on and give her heart to Davis. Davis is determined to remain by her side and support her- he really does become the pillar of strength that she needs to lean on in order to pull herself through.

If you're in the mood for a sexy, sweet, oh-so-steamy read- Lauren is your go-to girl. Every. time.

~Author Interview with Lauren Blakely~

Hey Lauren! I'm super excited to have you on the blog today! I can't wait for everyone to read Playing With Her Heart!

1. How would you describe Playing With Her Heart in 10 words or less?

Emotional, hot, sexy, swoony, dirty-talking alpha male, read it now!

2. What was your favorite scene to write in the book?

All of them! But if I had to choose, it was the restaurant scene. :)

3. Which character was probably your favorite to write?

Oh, this is so hard! I do so love Jill and her emotional journey in this story, and the way she can't resist the intense chemistry with her director, Davis. But, then there's Davis... And he's just my favorite guy. I loved writing him, his emotions, his intensity, his dialogue, and most of all, the dirty-sexy things he says to Jill about all the ways he wants to have her.

4. If you could cast Davis and Jill, who would you see them as?

Steve Boyd (my cover model) is so ingrained in my head now as Davis, given all the pics of him that have circulated. So I definitely "see" him as the physical embodiment of my hero. BUT, Steve isn't an actor, so can we do a mash-up of Steve Boyd and Alexander Skarsgard? Because I think he can capture the dangerous sexy character of Davis incredibly well. As for Jill, I see her as Dianna Agron- she has that young, beautiful blond look, but also so much depth as an actress. Or Jennifer Lawrence. Because, well, she's Jennifer Lawrence!

5. Why write about Broadway? Do you have a background in theater? Or do you just have a love of musicals?

Ah, want to hear all about my vanquished hopes and dreams? Here goes. I spent about nine months when I was twenty-one auditioning for shows in New York City when I lived there. I LOVE theater madly, and thought I wanted to be an actress. Then I remembered a few vital points- I can't sing, I can't dance, and I can't act. So I focused on writing and I have immensely enjoyed being an audience member at many musicals over the years. When I lived in New York in my early twenties I went to the theater 3-4 nights a week. So yes, I love Broadway fiercely, and I often listen to musicals while writing.

6. What song do you think best describes Davis and Jill's relationship?

Madness by Muse. It's kind of their theme song, especially because of the lines "I have finally realized... I need to love" and "come and rescue me." But wait! There's also Falling Slowly, because of these lines: "Falling slowly, eyes that know me- and I can't go back" As for Jill, I think "Bruised Not Broken" by Joss Stone is her theme song.

7. I don't know if it's just me, but I had no idea Jill and Chris (from Trophy Husband) would be brother and sister! Technically Trophy Husband isn't a part of the Caught Up in Us series, correct? Did you know from the beginning you wanted that book and this one to share a connection?

YES! I had originally planned on releasing the three related books in order, but I knew Playing With Her Heart would take more time. I've talked about Trophy Husband on my blog and how it's a massive revision to a novel I wrote five years ago. So, given the time I needed to write Playing With Her Heart, I decided in March to revise Trophy Husband and release it first, but to make the hero in that book related to the characters in the next book. Brother and sister made logical sense and gave a tighter connection between the two. Plus, you may recall that Chris drops a hint in Trophy Husband about Jill and Davis when he tells McKenna that her sister's director is "making her crazy". This scene is mirrored back in Playing With Her Heart when Jill send Chris the text that leads him to believe this. Also, the epilogue of Trophy Husband is show in Jill's POV in Playing With Her Heart. So, these were all intentional so that Trophy Husband could share a strong bond with the other books set in New York.

8. What are some of your favorite NA (or other) reads that you've read lately?

I loved Unafraid by Melody Grace, which releases August 27th! I also loved All of You by Christina Lee, which releases September 17th! And I have to confess I finally read 50 Shades of Grey and enjoyed it quite a bit!

9. What's up next for you? Have you mainly been working on Tricked and Treated?

Tricked and Treated is all ready to go and features my scorchingly hot firefighter and it's part of the Lovers Unmasked anthology, (http://www.amazon.com/Lovers-Unmasked-Entangled-Brazen-ebook/dp/B00EBRGIHM/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1376285281&sr=1-4), and I've also been working on edits for THE BREAKUP ALBUM, which releases in October. (http://www.amazon.com/Break-Album-Entangled-Edge-ebook/dp/B00EGJ334Q/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1376285281&sr=1-5) That book has a connection to Playing With Her Heart because Jane Black, the heroine in The Breakup Album, has a vital cameo in Playing With Her Heart. (She's also mentioned in Trophy Husband!) The Breakup Album is set in NY, it shares some common themes with the Caught Up in Us books- romance, sexiness, emotion and finding love after heartbreak.

10. And finally- if you yourself could play any role on Broadway- what would it be?

EVITA!!!! I would chew the scenery and go all out singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina!!! Evita is such an iconic, diva role and it doesn't get any bigger than that for belting out songs and owning a show!

Thanks for chatting with me today Lauren! As always, I can't wait to read your next book!
