I have been listening to ALOT of country music lately, but I have to say Tim's new album completely caught me by surprise. I LOVE his old stuff (Indian Outlaw, etc.) but I feel like he's been pretty hit or miss with me these last few years.
I was listening to the radio and they did a special album release for Tim, where they talked to him about the album and played a few more songs aside from the one getting radio play. I was hooked y'all. I really love this new album.

Being a huge Bleachers fan, it was so nice of Heather to tag me on Facebook to let me know about this jewel of an album! AND it's FREE on Google Play! (Or it was when I got it. Not sure about now.) I love that these female artists have put their own, unique spin on these Bleachers songs! I am especially a fan of Sia's haunting version of 'Like a River Runs'. She has slowed it down and it's so amazing!

I've been pretty exhausted by main stream pop radio lately, so I've been listening to a bit more country than usual. I was in the car with my mom and this song came on and I really liked it, but didn't know who it was. She thought it was this Maddie & Tae, so eventually I pulled them up on Spotify and I really like them! I am absolutely obsessed with 'Smoke'. It's easily one of my favorites on the album!

I'm really excited to feature Elle King today! I absolutely fell in love with her single Ex's and Oh's on the radio. It's so much fun, upbeat, and has a great vibe. Her voice is different too- it reminds me a bit of Duffy and Amy Winehouse. That scratchier, raw type of voice really works here and I am so glad I gave her album a chance!

Today I am finally getting to feature Halsey's new album! I feel like I've been waiting for it to drop forever! I have to give props to some of the people I follow on Twitter, because I don't know that I would have discovered Halsey otherwise. I don't even remember who first brought her to my attention, but I am SO glad they did! She reminds me a lot of Ellie Goulding for some reason, but not with as distinct of a voice.

At first listen, Shakey Graves wasn't someone that really struck my fancy. The song that was making waves on the local indie station just wasn't doing it for me. However, after seeing him live this past Thursday, I am definitely singing a different tune. I ended up really enjoying a lot of his other songs!
He probably won't be for everyone as he has a distinctly unique, scratchier type of voice. It's definitely one you might have to listen to a few times around to decide if he's your cup of tea.

This week I am featuring Gregory Alan Isakov. I hadn't heard of Isakov until recently. I was discussing music with Emery Lord before the Boldly Bookish tour and she told me he was playing at Bonnaroo and that I should try to see him because seeing him live is like a religious experience. HAH!
So I definitely made time to squeeze him in and needless to say, she was right. I absolutely love his voice and I put this album on repeat while I read. It's calming, it's peaceful and I am blown away by his lyrics.

This week I am featuring a band that totally took me by surprise- Twenty One Pilots!
I hadn't paid much attention to this band until a girl asked me about Bonnaroo (I was wearing my shirt the day after it ended). She asked if I saw Twenty One Pilots and I was like, "Oh, no..." After that I got kind of curious about these guys, so I decided to look them up.
And now I'm kicking myself for not discovering them sooner! (This always happens- I always discover new bands that I like AFTER I have the opportunity to see them!)
So, yeah. I was surprised by how much I liked their sound because they're not the kind of music I normally listen to. I don't even know how I'd categorize them to be honest. Spotify shows Walk the Moon, The Neighbourhood, and Atlas Genius as related artists, which I can see, I guess?
Either way. I'm loving this album. Check it out.

I actually first heard Houndmouth on one of Jamie's playlists, but didn't think too much of them at first. I liked the song on her playlist, but didn't go back and revisit it. Then I saw these guys were playing Bonnaroo and decided to go back and check them out. I am SO glad I did, because I'm obsessed with this album. It's AMAZING.
I am a fan of bands where there is a male and female vocalist and they trade off lead on certain songs. They also blend the voices so incredibly well.
I caught most of their set at Bonnaroo and I am so excited to see them again for Nashville's Live on the Green, which is a free mini music festival.

This week I am featuring Mumford & Sons' latest which released just last week! Ooh boy, there are a lot of opinions on this album. It was a huge jaw dropper when we all found out the banjo would not be present on this album and that the electric guitar would be taking its place. I mean, it's MUMFORD. NO BANJO?! Still, I knew I would go in with an open mind. When I first heard Believe, I wasn't sure what I thought. The more and more I listened to it, I decided I enjoyed it.
I personally like this album. I can appreciate it for what it is and I like most of the songs and love the lyrics behind them. Sure, I miss the more folk centered tracks such as on Babel and Sigh No More, but I am open to this evolving sound.
