I was really looking forward to this book as I adore all things Egyptian mythology! As much as I wanted this one to work for me, it sadly didn't. Reawakened got off to a rather slow start, but then it finally began to pick up. I thought it would be full speed ahead after that, but that was not the case for me.

 

I was bored throughout the novel. There wasn't enough going on to really keep my interest. I really liked the storyline, don't get me wrong. It just lacked the execution I needed. There was entirely too much telling going on and I was tired of hearing all the different tales and myths. Had there been a better blend of telling and showing, I would have been able to get on board. Instead, I found myself groaning every time another explanation came about. We have a 400 page book and I don't feel enough HAPPENED. Part Three was where the action was, and that managed to salvage the book a tiny bit for me. Getting to Part Three, however, was excruciating. I was bored and wanted to stop reading so many times.

 

I also didn't care much for the characters and I HAVE to be invested in them to really enjoy the story. Lily was just an okay heroine. She wasn't anything special to me and I found myself not caring about her or the romance between her and Amon. (If you can call it that.) I understand Amon's reasoning for not allowing a romance to develop, but the constant insecurities from Lily over his rejection drove me a bit nuts.

 

The epilogue was definitely intriguing, but I don't think I will be continuing the series.
