I was really looking forward to Hope and Daniel's book after Fool Me Twice. There is so much history between these two and after the death of Hope's brother, things have never been the same. Daniel made some poor decisions and he has to live with those every day of his life along with the guilt he feels over his friend's death.

I would have enjoyed this one more, had it not been so rushed. For this kind of story, I really wanted to see more development and build up between the characters. Hope and Daniel were both frustrating to me. Neither one of them can admit they want the other to stay and start over. They loved one another once and those feelings never went away. Hope is hurt that Daniel left her all those years ago and she can't take his feeling sorry for her. She doesn't want him to be with her out of guilt. She wants his love and he is certainly not making that easy. Daniel doesn't feel worthy of Hope and he does still blame himself for her brother's death and the scars she still bears from that accident. I get that these two are facing a lot, but the execution just wasn't there for me. I was disappointed because of how excited I was for this book, but in the end, I am glad to see they got their HEA.

 

I also don't think one is very memorable. It's been a couple of weeks since I've read it and I really didn't remember much, except that it felt too fast. I'm looking forward to the next book by Robert. I do love her writing and hope the next one will be more to my liking.

This series has been the biggest guilty pleasure for me. I am so completely invested in these characters and all the drama that surrounds them. After the mega double cliffhanger of Broken Prince, I was so ready to get my hands on Twisted Palace.

 

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It wasn't my favorite because I didn't really like some of the developments that occurred. However, I was engaged the entire way through, even though I felt it was a bit of a slower paced read. The action and adventure really ramps up at the end and then I felt it just went too fast for me. I didn't feel resolved. I do think they will write more books with these characters (or I'm hoping so!).

I did love Ella and Reed together though. These two have come a long way and we really see that. While the Royals will always be protective of Ella, they have come to realize that she is a force on her own and they definitely respect that.

While I didn't love this one like the others, I am seriously hoping for more. We definitely need an Easton book and I personally would like a Gideon one. We barely saw him in this one and after all the shit with Dinah, I felt he should have played a larger role and gotten some resolution.

I am such a huge fan of this series. It is definitely one of my all-time favorites in New Adult. After the massive bomb Tucker dropped at the end of The Score, I was psyched to get this book to see how everything had built up to that point.

 

I absolutely LOVED Tucker. He is just such a sweetheart and I loved how he went after Sabrina, even despite how much Dean ranted about her. He really got to know Sabrina and how to treat her. She has been through a lot and has quite a bit of shit to deal with already. Her homelife is a disaster and all she wants to do is be successful, so she can move upwards and onwards with her life. I knew she would be reluctant with Tucker and would be a hard nut to crack, but I actually really liked her. She's resilient and independent and that doesn't just change overnight.

 

I did feel parts of this book dragged a bit for me and I honestly wish we had had more interaction with Tucker's friends. I understand why, as they were keeping their relationship a secret, but I did find myself missing them. The scenes they were in though, completely made my day. I love that crew.

I really hope Dean's sister gets a book with Fitzy. Fingers crossed.

Good grief you guys. THESE BOOKS. I am not usually one for overly angsty reads, but I think it's the combined superpowers of Jen and Elle that make me love and crave it so. Paper Princess ended on a cliffhanger and I'll go ahead and warn you that Broken Prince does as well. I felt a bit more ok with this cliffhanger though than the first. The events that occur and the revelations that are sprung on us are still pretty jaw dropping, but I was less unsettled and I think it had to do with our characters and how things have played out for them.

 

I really enjoyed this second book, but I did feel some of Ella's misgivings were a bit repetitious. I wanted to shake her and say "Ok, I get it! You've made your point! Now stop!" I completely get her hesitation and why she's resisting, but I felt it came across a bit like a broken record.

 

I loved the addition of Reed's point of view in this book. It's always so nice to get inside our hero's head, especially since sometimes it's hard to gauge their intentions otherwise. And let me say, I absolutely love Reed Royal. He's far from perfect, but he's that flawed character you can't help but adore.

 

I am looking forward to the final book in the series, because holy craziness at the end of this book. I am beyond intrigued as to how these new developments are going to play out! I'm ready to jump back on the Royal rollercoaster and ride this crazy train out!

Oh my. I have been ruined by Royals. Ok, so technically I've been ruined by one Royal in particular.... And after that evil cliffhanger I don't even know what to do with myself and my feels. Thanks a lot ladies. Ok, so really though. I sound bitter, but I promise I'm not because holy hell THIS BOOK. I have been in a bit of a book slump, but when I picked this one up, there was no wanting to put it down!

 

My heart ached for Ella. She has already gone through so much in her life and now she is plucked up by this rich guy she doesn't even know and is brought to live in his house with his 5 sexy as hell, but vindictive sons. They are pretty awful to her in the beginning, and they act as her Judge, Jury, and Executioner without even getting to know her. It's very much survival mode for Ella, but I love how strong she is. She isn't unaffected but she'll be damned before she shows weakness in front of these people.

 

School isn't much better for Ella, as the Royal boys pretty much own the place. She is mostly ignored, with the exception of a girl named Jordan who is the Queen Bee of the school. She also has it bad for Reed, so she won't be rolling out the red carpet for Ella anytime soon. Ella does end up befriending another outcast of sorts, Jordan's cousin, and the two are quite the pair.

 

I wanted to hate Reed and Easton Royal for how they treated Ella, as some of their actions could border on sexual harassment, and I hated how vile they were initially to her. They automatically assume she's a slut and make crude gestures, when she's never even had sex before and is pretty inexperienced when it comes to all things sexual. However, as we learn more about this family and their history, I can understand why it took them so long to warm up to Ella. I'm not condoning their actions, but Ella is a stranger brought in under unusual circumstances, so they are right to be wary.

 

Ella thinks the Royals are insufferable, but she can't get past her attraction for Reed. He is an ass to her, but she doesn't just let him walk all over her. She exacts her revenge and I love how she sticks it to him. He takes to driving Ella to school and to work in the mornings and while he says it's not to embarrass the family, I think he's has his own reasons. As in, he likes her. However, he doesn't want to open himself up in front of her and show he's vulnerable. He tries to keep her at a distance, as he's set on leaving for college in the fall and he can't afford any distractions. These two have crazy tension together and it's seriously hot.

 

I am so ready for Broken Prince. I'm not usually one for drama, scandal, and betrayal but in this case, GIVE ME MORE!

Upon finishing A Court of Thorns and Roses, I knew it would stay with me for quite some time. I read this in December and I STILL have ALL THE FEELS. Not only has this become one of my new favorite books, but I honestly think it will become an ALL TIME favorite. It is THAT good. I loved every minute and I was beyond devastated when it was over. I wanted more. No, I CRAVED more. I am already a huge Sarah fangirl so waiting for her books is the most painful kind of torture.

 

I actually didn't realize this was a Beauty and the Beast retelling until I was done. Hah. I finished and was not only reminded of Beauty and the Beast, but I caught a hint of the Persephone myth in here too! (I don't know if that was intentional or not. I think I'll ask Sarah tonight!) I loved the way Maas crafted this story, developed the characters and their relationships, and made me feel I was right there in Prythian experiencing everything as Feyre did.

 

I loved Feyre. She isn't a kickass warrior like Celaena, but she has her own strength and resilience. And she's got a hell of a lot of heart.  I really admire her for taking care of her family the way she did, especially with the way they acted. She has become hardened by the life she lives and lives in the now. She doesn't daydream like her sisters or act as if things are going to magically get better. She's a realist through and through. She is not happy about the arrangement to go and live with Tamlin in the Faerie Lands, but she is without a choice. She must cross into enemy territory if she wants to live and there, she must adjust to her new life among these ethereal masked faeries.

 

Let's talk about my new book boyfriend, Tamlin. I am so in love with him, it's kind of scary. Even though he is angered and upset over the loss of his friend to Feyre's hands, he still shows her compassion and kindness. He made me swoon so very much and I loved watching them warm up to one another. This is the best kind of hate-love relationship. He made my toes curl and my stomach flutter and I was flailing by the time we got to some of the more steamy scenes.

 

I really liked Lucien as well, Tam's best friend. He ended up being a great friend to Feyre as well and I loved that he provided some comedic relief. Now, Rhys on the other hand... I know tons of people love him and I think I would too.... had I jumped into my time machine and read the next books. LOL. I have no idea where Sarah is going to take her story next, nor her relationships, especially after the events that transpired at the end of the book. Where Tam is light, Rhys is dark. He's definitely got that bad faerie vibe going on, but I am curious about him. We got to see some of his vulnerability, so I am interested in seeing how this storyline will play out. And terrified because my heart might not survive this series.

 

To sum up my somewhat erratic thoughts and feelings, I loved this book to pieces. I love that Sarah isn't afraid to be bold and make things happen. The steamy scenes had me in full swoon mode and I am almost embarrassed at how many times I reread them. (Almost, but not quite.) I am so invested in these characters and their lives, as well as the story she has created. If you're a lover of high fantasy, then I definitely recommend this one and I hope it captivates you with its beauty as much as it did me.

I have so many emotions swirling around inside of me right now, I don't even know where to start! I guess it's a good thing I can't really say much, as I want to avoid spoilers, because there are simply no words! E. Lee and C. Quinn work so well together and have done a wonderful job with their storyline, characters' voices, and overall development of the novel.

 

I was left heartbroken after all that transpired at the end of Storm Warning. Hearts are shattered, miscommunications are seen as betrayal, and worst of all- a life is tragically lost during the E-4 tornado that ravaged the town of Hope's Grove. Now, our characters are left to pick up the pieces of their lives, as they all have been deeply affected in one way or another. They are all left grieving and they all do so in different ways. Some will try to plaster a smile on their faces and try to go back to a time where life was normal and carefree, some will sacrifice their own pain and grief to help others, and some will spin so out of control that they will lose themselves even further into the darkest depths of despair.

 

This book really knocked me on my bottom. New relationships are developed that shocked the heck out of me, others are broken to the point where you wonder if they're beyond repair, and there are secrets that are ready to rise up and potentially ruin lives. We see a lot of changes in our characters' behavior also. Suddenly things that once seemed important are now inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. They are starting to come into their own and I really enjoy seeing them mature and grow.

 

Being angsty teenagers, there were times when some of the characters could really frustrate me. I wanted to yell at them for being selfish and jealous and to stop acting crazy! Others I wanted to shake and tell them to fight harder for the ones they love and not to give up on them, even when they seem like a lost cause.

 

I am really unsure of the direction Lee and Quinn will take the final book, but I know without a doubt they will make it work. Now that we've braved the darkness of the storm, it's time to stand in the light of the sun and let our characters heal and move forward with their lives.

Ok. Let's not bring out the firing squad, but I had the hardest time getting through this book. Which is CRAZY, considering I did a reread of the first 3 books in the series before tackling this one. I reread Obsidian, Onyx, and Opal in the span of a day and a half. It took me 4 days to read this one. That makes me a sadface panda. I found myself bored for a good majority of the book. I honestly don't know why because all the new information concerning Daedalus was really interesting to me!

Opal ended with a hell of a cliffhanger and I was desperate to find out what happened next. We know from the previous books how devastating being in captivity can be- ask Beth and Dawson. Those two have been through the ringer and have come back as completely different people. Their captivity has taken a great emotional toll on them and we don't really get much insight as to what they were forced to endure. We finally get to see firsthand what Daedalus is about and what their endgame is. And it's freaking scary. Armentrout introduces us to a lot of new information concerning not only the Luxen race, but another one as well. (Which I think will play a HUGE role in the final book.) So why did I have so much trouble getting through the first half of the book?! I was interested, but just not engaged.

I do love that we get Daemon's POV in this book. As you all know, I HATED Daemon in Obsidian. I know he has come a long way since then, and I realize he said and did things because he felt he needed to- not just to protect his family, but to also protect Katy from getting involved in their world. However, it never sat right with me how he could be so cruel to her and make her feel the way he did in that first book. Of course, Armentrout won me over and I am a huge Daemon fan NOW, but being able to get inside his head and see how much he truly loves Katy and would do ANYTHING for her really made their romance even more believable to me. If you had any doubts prior to this book that he loved her, you will not have them in this book, that's for sure. They have some really great scenes together that had me swooning like crazy and I loved how Armentrout made their scenes together sexy but still appropriate for a younger audience at the same time.

Besides sexy scenes, I like that we have some new additions in the book as well. Archer is by far my favorite newbie. I could tell right away that he would be so much more than meets the eye. And he was... tenfold! He doesn't say much, but actions speak louder than words folks.

Luc also plays a significant role in this book and I am eager to see how his character will develop in the final novel.

I ended up rating this one 4 stars because I loved the Katy-Daemon scenes, really loved Archer, and the last 1/4 of the book rocked my socks off. It definitely made up for the slow pace I felt the book had for the first half.

I can't end my review without saying how much I admire Katy. She is such a strong character and we really see that strength in this novel. However, she's not a machine. She has her vulnerabilities and her weak moments, but hell if she'll show them in front of Daedalus. They are determined to break her and she won't be broken. She survives their 'stress tests' and even when one of them goes wrong- she still won't cave to them. To say that she isn't impacted is a lie. We see her break down with Daemon and it really killed me because she has been through so much and forced to do things that are completely out of character for her. She will live with guilt for the rest of her life because some assholes treated her like a lab rat, instead of a freaking human being.

Yes, I need to talk about Daemon too. Damn that boy is NOT playing around. He will do whatever it takes to save Katy and he doesn't give a crap about the possible repercussions. I love his fierce determination when it comes to her and when the two are reunited, his protectiveness of her is really sweet. There is also this level of respect between them in this book and we really see him start to treat her more as an equal. This is huge because Katy does not want to be seen as the weak link and I think Daemon really starts to get that. As I said before, with his POV we really get to see just how much love he has for her and the lengths he would go to for her. It's beautiful and sometimes crazy, but it's Daemon and we love it. While this is a more serious book, we do have our token Daemon cockiness and swagger, which I felt were interjected at just the right moments. Daemon definitely does something crazy beautiful in regards to his and Katy's relationship and OMFG I fangirled like... a fangirl!

The book does not end on a cliffhanger, but it does leave you rocking in anticipation for the final book in the series. After everything Daemon, Katy, and crew have been through I am nervous as to where Armentrout will take the final book. All actions have consequences and our friends are about to see that in a big way.
