Title: You and Everything After (Falling #2)
Author: Ginger Scott
Age: NA
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release date: December 5, 2014

I’m that teenaged girl who has MS. You haven’t met me, but you’ve seen me around. You probably know my sister. We’re twins, and she’s the pretty one. Maybe you’ve heard about my reputation, how much I like to hook up at parties—how easy it is to get me in bed, get what you want, and forget about me after.

Forget what you think you know. I’m leaving that girl behind. College is all about new beginnings. So from now on—I’m just Cass. And the rest…it isn’t written yet. And no one else gets to write my story for me.

“Tyson Preeter doesn’t do can’t.”

That’s exactly what I want people to think when they see me. I am strong, invincible, confident, intelligent—arrogant. I’m the man who always finds a way around, over and through—until there’s nothing left. Since losing my ability to walk six years ago, I’ve relearned life. I don’t need sympathy. I don’t want charity. And I don’t do love. It’s better this way, saves my disappointments for me, and me alone, and it saves my strength for everything I want.

But Cass Owens is about to wreck everything. She’s about to steal all of my strength away from me, because she needs it more. She’s about to break all of my rules, and break down all of my walls. She’s about to own me…completely.

And I’m about to let her.

*This is book 2 in The Falling Series.*

I have been meaning to read This is Falling for quite some time now, so when this book came up as a review opportunity, I went for it, hoping I would get time to squeeze the first book in before I started this one. Alas, life got in the way (as it tends to do) and I did not find the time to read the first book like I had planned. Thankfully, this can be read as a stand-alone and after finishing I definitely want to go back and read Rowe and Nate's story!

I really enjoyed Cass and Ty's story. Both of them are so deserving of love and watching them let one another in was such a beautiful journey to witness. Cass and Ty have faced hardships that have drastically altered their lives in ways they could never have imagined. We see two incredibly resilient people who are determined not to let those hardships break them and I loved seeing that fire and passion in them. Their relationship is not perfect and they have some ups and downs- one that especially made me angry with Ty- but they learn from their mistakes and thankfully hold on to one another instead of letting go.

As a freshman in college in a new town, Cass wants nothing more to shuck the chains of her old life and embrace a new one. She doesn't want to be pitied for her MS and she certainly doesn't want to be reminded of the girl she once was during high school as she sought love in all the wrong places. She wants to mean something to someone and for once have a boyfriend that truly cares for and loves her.

Ty is the opposite of all things Cass is looking for. He doesn't do relationships and our first meeting of him is not very favorable. He's acts like a pretty big douche and I was worried for a minute I wouldn't fall for him. The thing about Ty? He IS a good guy. Meeting Cass and working as her physical trainer, changes things for him. He likes this girl and finds himself wanting to be that guy for her. Again, he's not perfect. He does have one particular 'oh NO he didn't!' moment, where he was acknowledging his wrongdoing in brain, but couldn't seem to keep himself from spouting off from the mouth. Having lost the ability to walk, Ty has had to make major changes in his life and I'm sure it couldn't have been an easy road for him. He has known loss and not just for himself, and that loss still affects him to this day, even though he is trying to make peace with his past.

Cass really is the game changer for Ty. She believes in him and falls for him simply for who he is. His disability doesn't even phase her, just as hers doesn't him. They find strength in one another and that is what makes their romance that much sweeter. He encourages her to go after her dreams and not let her illness keep her from doing something she loves. They also have great chemistry, which I loved seeing. There's more than just steamy, sexy times. They are so many funny and tender moments that really solidify their relationship together.

I was NOT a fan of Cass's twin sister, Paige. She is incredibly self-absorbed and petty, and it irritated me how she felt the attention constantly needed to be on her. I knew that there would probably be more to Paige than Scott was letting on, but she was still hard to swallow at times, especially later in the book as some of her actions borderline unforgivable. I can't imagine growing up with a twin sister who gets all the attention because of her illness, so I'm sure Paige acts out the way she does for having felt invisible. She has a lot to make up for, so I'm actually looking forward to her book, because I do love a good redemption story!

As I said, I have not read Rowe and Nate's story as of yet, but after reading this one, we are able to piece together a lot of their relationship and it certainly has its shares of ups and downs. I have a feeling it will be an emotional one, as Rowe has been through a tragedy no one in their lives should ever have to endure, and she has the physical and emotional scars to remind her every day.

Overall, You and Everything After was a really great New Adult read. I am definitely looking forward to reading more in this series!

Being the wild child has worked for Mallory Vandaveer for most of her life. She’s the good time girl, up for anything–and everyone in her small town knows it. But when her sister came home after years of being away, long hidden secrets came out. Turns out, Mallory isn’t who she thought she was. And now everything starts to feel like a lie. In order to figure out who she is she’ll have to set out on a journey to find the one man who holds the answers.

Everett Boone is in hiding. Hiding from his past and the press and the demands of a career he put on hold after tragedy struck. When a young woman with secrets of her own blows into town and rents the apartment next to his, he’ll have to face the past he was trying to escape in order to understand his feelings for her.

They’ll both have to dig deep inside themselves to discover whether or not they’re capable of being enough for one another. Finding the person you’re meant to love isn’t the problem. Sometimes the hardest person to find is yourself.

Upon finishing Escaping Me, the first book in the series, I could not wait to get my hands on this book! I instantly loved Mallory and her spunky, tough as nails attitude. She has had quite the bomb dropped on her in the previous book and now she is leaving town to hopefully get some answers in Charleston. Mallory is just one of those heroines that you can't help but envy. She goes after what she wants and doesn't let fear keep her from doing new things and taking chances.

She is taking quite the chance in renting an apartment above a welding shop and keeping her true identity a secret from both the shop owner and her new next door neighbor. She wants to make sure she's doing the right thing and will be well received before she goes in guns blazing, which I get. I do think Mallory should have fessed up a lot sooner than she did though. Her withholding this information certainly causes problems with her sexy neighbor, Boone, who she finds herself falling a lot harder for than she ever thought.

Mallory is a no strings kind of girl. She doesn't do relationships, after being burned by them in the past. She has not had a strong father figure and just feels the men in her life haven't been there for her in a lasting capacity. Everett Boone is a complete jerk to her in the beginning, not wanting to have any kind of contact with the beautiful new girl. He has been living his life under the radar for a few years now, wanting to escape the spotlight after a personal tragedy.

Boone is determined to keep Mallory at arm's length, but her free spirit and her flirty, fun attitude draw him right in and really makes him rethink his desire for solitude. She works her way into his life and eventually into his heart. Both of them agree to keep things casual, but find that's not really what they want at all. Mallory likes spending time with Boone and vice versa. They have incredible chemistry together and I liked watching them slowly open their hearts to one another after they swore they wouldn't.

I absolutely love that Boone is a former golfer! How awesome is that! I don't think I've read any books where the athlete is a golfer, so it was definitely awesome to read about a different sport for once! We really don't get too heavy into the golf scene in this book though. I did like seeing the parts we got though!

We get plenty of Whitney and Cole for those of you that have read the first book in the series. They also have some big things going on in their lives, so I was glad that Lee touched base with them. They are so supportive of Mallory and I'm really glad she had them in her life.

Vince was another really great character too. He is the owner of the welding shop below and really acts as a father figure to Mallory. He is very protective when it comes to Boone discussing having something more with her. He is also good to Boone and the two are very close as well.

I am excited for you all to meet Mallory and Boone. They are both trying to find their place in the world, overcome tragedies and obstacles, as well as deciding what they want from one another. A beautiful story of love, acceptance, and taking chances- Lee's writing will captivate you and have you begging for more!

All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere – she couldn't.

He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.

Here's the thing they quickly found out – sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.

Sometimes love is right where you left it.

Sadie Hart has a plan: return to her small town of Hope Springs so she can regain her confidence—and bank account—before giving one more shot to her country music dream. The dream that means more to her than anything. The dream she chose over her high school sweetheart, the brooding and sinfully handsome Royce Dixon.

Royce has moved on from his memories of the beautiful Sadie. Now he’s focused solely on running Second Chance Ranch, where he rehabilitates troubled teens through ranch work. But when he needs a new employee and Sadie’s the only one to volunteer, he has no choice but to offer his old flame a job.

Whether riding a horse with the wind in her hair or mucking out the stalls, Sadie can still get Royce’s heart beating like no one else. But Nashville is her dream, and Royce can’t settle for second best.

I love when authors join forces and create crossover characters in their books. We first meet Sadie Hart in Rachel Harris's Accidentally Married on Purpose, where she makes a very brief cameo to sing at Blue's induction to the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Fellow Bliss author, Cindi Madsen, has written us Sadie's story and I will just tell you up front. I loved it. Second Chance Ranch drew me in right away and I could not get enough of Sadie and Royce together!

My heart broke for Sadie. After leaving her family, high school boyfriend, and her home behind to head to Nashville to pursue a singing career, she now finds herself back where she started. She still has her family and her home, but her high school boyfriend was one of the sacrifices she had to make to try and follow her dreams. Being back home to get her bearings straight, causes old memories to resurface of a time where her and Royce were happy and completely head over heels in love.

Now, there is a tension between them and Royce is determined not to let the beautiful, blonde woman he once loved back into his heart. Royce has his own problems to deal with, as the ranch he and his mother run desperately needs a woman employee to help avoid any potential scandals or credibility problems. Second Chance Ranch is a place where troubled teens are sent to learn what hard, honest work is and also to provide them with the encouragement they need to turn their lives around. Royce finds himself at a crossroads, as Sadie needs a job and he seems to be the only one who actually has work. She knows the ranch well and he has gotten a glimpse of her briefly interacting with one of the tough to crack kids there. He knows she won't plan to stick around long anyway, so as long as he keeps things professional between them, they should be able to make a go of it.

I love second chance romances. Sadie and Royce still have that spark and they are genuinely good for one another. It's easy to fall back into old ways and remember how good they used to be together. The last thing Royce expects is to fall for her again, especially after having his heart broken by her so many years ago. It's a slow fall though. Madsen doesn't rush their relationship, which made it feel that much more meaningful and important, as it's the real thing.

The ending was perfection and I love what Royce did at the rodeo. It was one of those perfect moments that could be straight out of a movie. I cannot recommend this book enough because it's just a sweet love story that will leave your heart happy and full.

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children. She is the YA author of DEMONS OF THE SUN & ALL THE BROKEN PIECES, and the adult author of FALLING FOR HER FIANCE, ACT LIKE YOU LOVE ME and CINDERELLA SCREWED ME OVER.

Excerpt

“Looks like she's back,” Vince said as we pulled back up to the shop the next afternoon.  He pointed at the two trucks parked along the street.  She waved at us from the bed of one of the trucks as she she handed down boxes to someone.  Her hair was pulled up into a ponytail that barely brushed her shoulders as she turned her head to talk to whoever was helping her move in.  Why did she have to be so damn cute?  Couldn't have been a dude or some homely girl that moved in next me, could it?  That would have been asking the universe to cut me a fucking break and that had never been the case before.  Why would it start now?
“Looks like she is,” I breathed.  A part of me was kind of hoping that she wouldn't come back. Another part, the one that hoped she did, was taking notes on how great she looked as we approached.  She smiled that excited, nervous grin that she had when Vince told her she could have the apartment. She had a certain look about her that reminded me of Audrey.  The Audrey from before we hit it big.  The one that just wanted to grab life by the horns.  The one that didn't let the pressure get to her.  Like the old Audrey, she hadn't yet been tainted.  She was naïve and unassuming, at least from where I was standing.
“Need some help?” Vince offered up about the time I saw her helper step out from behind the truck.  He was around the same height as me, which is where our similarities ended.  This guy had muscles in places I didn't even know were possible, and I was an athlete.  On top of those muscles he had tattoos and a look on his face that said “back the fuck off.”  Or he did when he was looking at me anyway.  Judging from his appearance, I guessed I wouldn't have to worry about him recognizing me.  He didn't look like an avid golf fan.  No, this guy was country, not country club.  All the more reason for me to keep my distance from her.  The last thing I wanted to deal with was an overprotective boyfriend.
When he turned his attention to Vince his demeanor seemed to change.
“I think we've only got it, but thank you,” he said politely.  “I do have one favor to ask though,” he added, looking up at my new neighbor who appeared to be concerned with the next words that were going to come out of his mouth.
“Sure,” Vince answered, resting his arms on the back of the truck.
“Keep an eye on my girl here,” he nodded up at her.  “She tends leap before she looks, if you know what I mean.”
“I do not,” she spouted.  “I'll be just fine.  I'm a big girl.”  The way she popped her hand up on her hip and practically stomped her foot caused everyone of us to crack a smile.  She hopped down out of the back of the truck and shut the tailgate.  “Thanks for your offer, Vince, but this is the last load to go upstairs.  Come on, Cole,” she urged, seeming to have better places to be.
“Vince, was it?” Cole extended his hand.  “Nice to meet you.”
“You too,” Vince replied.  “We'll keep an eye on her.”  Cole nodded, pleased with Vince's words.
“Didn't catch your name,” he said turning to me.
“Boone,” I replied, thrusting my hand out to meet his.  I wasn't scared of this guy.  Sure, he could have probably kicked my ass all over the street, but he had no reason to worry about me.  I wasn't interested in his girl.
“Not going to have to worry about you getting her into any trouble, am I?”  He raised up, his broad shoulders casting a shadow over me.  His hand squeezed around mine in warning.
“Nope,” I said, matching the pressure of his grip.  “Not going to have to worry about me at all.”  I feel myself rising up to gain an inch on him.  “If she's getting into any trouble she'll be doing it all on her own.”  Which I didn't doubt.  As sweet and naïve as she appeared, I could tell from our brief encounter that she was a spitfire.  Cole didn't need to worry about me one bit, but he moved toward me nonetheless. This guy wanted to stand toe-to-toe, I was game.  It'd been a while since I felt an adrenaline rush.  I used to get them all the time—teeing off on the first hole of a major, sinking a putt to seal a double birdie.  This was a different kind of rush, but I'd take it.  It was good to feel something other than guilt for once.
“Good.” He finally broke the tension with a chuckle.  “I'll see ya around, Boone.”
“Yep.” Guess he'd be back to visit.
