Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate -- ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?
Hmm. This is a really hard question. I'm sure there are books I read thinking I would hate (mostly required reading from school) but then ended up liking. However, I'm the type of person that always gives a book a chance, no matter what's been said about it. The only book I can think of that I'm going to read, but not sure I'm going to like would be Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. But even then, regardless of if I like or not, I will still give it a shot.
Now I can think of SEVERAL books I thought I was going to love and ended up not liking!
What about you guys? Enjoy your weekend and as always, happy reading!

I do that to, and even if I am not enjoying a book I still read it until the end, hoping I'll like it!!

Yup. I just feel guilty giving up on a book, or even a series! I wasn't crazy about the first Mythos Academy book by Jennifer Estep, but I'm going to continue the series because there's a chance it might get better! Thanks for stopping by Naomi!
DeleteI am feeling the same regarding that one too! Haven't gotten it yet, but still debate over whether I should or not!

Have a GREAT weekend!

I just don't get how Mafi can turn Warner into a love interest for Juliette. Especially after the monster she portrays him as in the first book. So. We'll see when/if I pick it up. Thanks for stopping by Jessica!
DeleteHi! This is the 2nd time Silk Screen Views is joining the blog hop. Following you by Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not a huge fan of a lot of books people love. One of them is the Sookie Stackhouse series. It's just not my thing. The writing... ugh. Don't get me started! Ha!
We prefer people to follow us on SSV via Wordpress, Email or Twitter. =)

Yes! The writing in the Sookie series was not so great at all. LOL. Thanks for the follow on Twitter- I have followed you back also!
DeleteI'm with you. I always want to give a book a chance and naively think that it'll never let me down. I'm always more disappointed then by those books I thought I'd love but ending up not liking. Boo :(

Yes! I hate those books! I think I'll love them because they are my kind of book, but then I don't and I'm so bummed out!
DeleteI didn't like the books I had to read for school, either. But I didn't really give them a chance, haha.

In retrospect, I didn't give them a chance either. It's high school- I had better things to read or do than read required classic lit. LOL.I do remember reading a couple that surprised me though, so I guess it wasn't all a waste. :) Thanks for the follow! I did the same over at your site!
DeleteI love the Shatter Me series! I have yet to read Unravel Me and I have been hearing a lot of bad things about it, But I love the series to much to not read it :D

Same here Kimberly! I'm going to have to read it regardless, I just don't know when I'll be in the right frame of mind. Maybe closer to when the third book comes out, so I'm not pulling out my hair!
DeleteHope you end up liking it. Old Follower
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Thanks! Me too! I loved the first one!
DeleteIf I'm interested in a book, I often read it regardless of my thinking I might hate it. :'D Still need to read Shatter Me.. Damn.
ReplyDeleteNew bloglovin follower! :)
Patricia
Patricia, yes! Shatter Me was a really neat read and I remember devouring it. I'm glad you feel the same way as me. I can't help but read anything and everything I can get my hands on!
DeleteThanks for the follow- have followed you also on BL!
Yeah, I usually like to give a book a shot even if I had trepidations. And if I see a lot of mixed reviews for a book, it usually makes me so curious that I want to read it and see which end of the spectrum I'll fall on! :)
ReplyDeleteSame here! I love reading when people are divided because then I'll want to see where I fall! I've actually read a few books where the reviews weren't great, but I ended up enjoying them.
DeleteYou're the second FFF I visit who's mentioned Shatter Me - this makes me happy because I've been holding out for the very same reason! I recently caved and got myself a copy so I'm happy that other people who thought they wouldn't like it ended up enjoyed it :D
ReplyDeleteGreat answer, thanks for sharing & for stopping by earlier this week ♥ Old follower.
