Armchair BEA: Genre Fiction
Today's genre focus is on genre fiction!
I won't lie: I love all different types of genres. One minute I'll be in a YA paranormal mood, the next I'll be reading a NA contemporary romance. I like to shake things up and not read the same genre over and over. This way I never get bored! If I read a vampire book, then I can't read another vampire book straight after. (Unless it's part of a series!)
Here are some of my favorite reads:
Favorite NA contemps: Inhale, Exhale by Sarah M. Ross; No Attachments by Tiffany King; The Hazards of Skinny Dipping by Alyssa Rose Ivy; Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker; Slammed series by Colleen Hoover
Favorite YA paranormal/supernatural: Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead; Shade series by Jeri Smith-Ready; Angelfire series by Courtney Allison Moulton; Lux series by Jennifer Lynn Armentrout
Favorite YA Dystopian: Defiance by C.J. Redwine; The Treatment by Suzanne Young
Favorite Adult series: The Crossfire series by Sylvia Day; The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs; The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
(I could keep going, but I do have to get to work, LOL.)

I hear so many good things about VA, I feel like I'm behind! I hope to get started in this series soon, because I have the books waiting on my shelves. I'm also someone who switches between genres often :)

I am a big fan of VA! It was one of the series that got me back into reading YA! You'll have to keep me posted when you get to them as to whether or not you like them!
DeleteI tend to read similar books back to back until I get completely bored of them (like now) and make a change. I just picked up The Knife of Never Letting Go because after reading a few Maya Banks books in a row, my tolerance for sex scenes was running low : ) Shocker, I know!
ReplyDelete:D That is craziness! LOL. I have been on a NA/Contemp kick lately though, so I have been reading those ones back to back. Which has actually been fine with me!
DeleteI really need to read Ten Tiny Breaths and Slammed still! They are on my list.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite books Ashley! They are so so good!!! Let me know when you get to them- I'm curious if you will jump on the bandwagon with me! :D
DeleteYup! We have pretty much the same tastes lol! :P
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? We're flipping awesome!! :D
DeleteI'm the same, I like to mix up what I'm reading so I won't get bored with that genre! Definitely keeps it interesting!!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I can do some back to back, but I'm always afraid to overdo it and then not want to read that type of book again!
DeleteI like a wide variety of genres, too! I love changing it up! Love the Shade series!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Another Shade fan! I had NO idea I would love that series as much as I did!! I was so sad to see it end!
DeleteI am just like you! I love to mix up the genres. I have been reading a lot of New Adult lately but love a good Adult book too :-) I Loved Slammed and Ten Tiny Breaths and really liked Inhale,Exhale and No Attachments too. The Lux series is of course my favorite paranormal :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that we read so many of the same types of books! Whenever I'm in need of a new book, I know I can always count on your blog to find some good recs! I agree, while I've been reading alot of NA, I do love me a good Adult! In fact, Jessirae has gotten me into the Brazen Books! SO good! :D
DeleteI'm the same way, I love all different types of genres, but I have recently found a favorite in retellings! I loved the Shade series as well!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Nikki- what have your favorite retellings been? I love a good retelling, but have actually only read one so far! And yay for Shade! I loved every minute of those books, even when my heart was being ripped to shreds!
DeleteI just received and ARC of Ten Tiny Breaths this week. Cannot wait to dive into it.
ReplyDeleteOh! I hope you like it!!! :D
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
