Armchair BEA Introduction!

By 9:00 PM

Hey guys! So, I am obviously not going to BEA this year (but I'm hoping to next year!), so I decided to participate in this fun little event going on!

  1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

Well, for starters, I am a 28-year-old high school Spanish teacher. I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (Go Vols!) with a BA in both Spanish and Italian. So, I like languages. :D I'm really big into watching college football and basketball, and I LOVE to travel.

I have always loved to read and after a bit of a reading hiatus, I recently got back into it! I have been blogging since February of this year, so I'm still a newbie. I decided to get into it because I was discovering all of these YA books and I was afraid I would never remember them all! So, I decided to hop on blogger and start writing reviews, mainly just to help me remember which books I've liked, etc. Since then I have learned so much about the blogging community and am now hooked!

2. Where in the world are you blogging from? Tell a random fact or something special about your current location. Feel free to share pictures.

I'm blogging from outside of Nashville, TN! Um. Well, we're the capital of country music, as you probably already knew. I've gotten to see quite a bit of musicians wandering around downtown Nashville, and we're not too far from Manchester, TN where Bonnaroo is held! (For those who don't know, it's a huge music festival. On a farm. In the blazing heat of summer. And it's AWESOME.)

3. Have you previously participated in Armchair BEA? What brought you back for another year? If you have not previously participated, what drew you to the event?

I have never participated! This is my first time! I saw some other people on Twitter doing this and I thought it sounded like fun!

4. What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2013?

I'm currently reading This Girl by Colleen Hoover. My favorite book of 2013? I couldn't even pick a favorite. But I have loved: Dare You To by Katie McGarry, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, Golden by Jessi Kirby, and Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase just to name a few.

5. Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I love tattoos. I have one so far, and can't wait for my next and the next.... I love dying my hair red. I have the cutest dog ever named Jack. :D I'm also obsessed with Duck Dynasty. And I'm from Syracuse, NY- so I'm obsessive when it comes to Syracuse basketball.

 6. Name your favorite blog(s) and explain why they are your favorite(s).

I have so many favorite blogs! They would be my favorites because they like the same types of books I do and because I really value their opinions and recommendations! Check out the sidebar to see some of them!

7. Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?

This one! :D I like people getting to know me.

8. If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

OMG. Ok. Let's think. I'd love to have dinner with Grant (Inhale, Exhale by Sarah M. Ross), Will (Slammed by Colleen Hoover), or Ryan (Dare You To by Katie McGarry)  I need more sweet, good guys in my life to remind me they do actually exist.  :D

9. What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

Hogwarts. Why? Because it's freaking Hogwarts!

10. What is your favorite part about the book blogging community?

My favorite part would have to be the overall helpfulness. Starting out, I really didn't know what to do and a few key bloggers really took me under their wing (Alyssa from Eater of Books to name one in particular) and really filled me in on how everything worked.

Today we're discussing the classics!

I don't read many classics anymore, but I read a TON in high school. I was in a philosophy class where we read a lot of Greek philosophers- so I love Homer's The Iliad, Euripides' Medea and Elektra, and others similar to that. I also really liked A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens when I read it too.

  3. This was so fun to read! It is cool you live outside Nashville. My husband and I took a roadtrip around Texas, Lousianna, and Tenneesse last November and I spent two days in Nashville. It was an awesome area. Also, adorable dog! and I love you "dinner with" picks! Sounds like a hot date!

  4. Hi Jessica! Great introduction post.

I also love tattoo! I only have one, but I need to get another. Soon. And I am super jealous that you dye your hair red! I have been dying my hair red for about...eight years. But due to a hubby instilled budget, I am going back to my natural blonde. Sigh.

I love your blog and I am so glad you decided to participate in Armchair BEA.

    1. Thanks Ashley! No one understands just how addicting tattoos are until they get one. And then want more! :D Aww boo to the hubby budget! LOL. I need to dye my hair more often than I do, but I'm always so busy I forget and then you see my brown coming out, hehe. Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad I did this too! It's so much fun learning about everyone!

  6. Hogwarts seems to be the location with the most votes. Sure would be interesting. I wouldn't mind a wand to get the dirty work done.
Best wishes with your semi new blog. Nice to meet you.

    1. :D I wish I had a wand to do my cleaning. And pump my gas. I hate doing both of those. LOL. Thanks for stopping by!

My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
