For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

I have been putting off writing this review for almost a week now because I honestly have no idea what to say. I still don't to be honest. I absolutely love JLA. That's no secret. Her writing pulls me in and leaves me breathless. And oh good Lord, this woman can write some steamy love scenes. This book completely worked for me because I loved the main characters, it had dual POV, and added in a bit of intrigue to the plot.

I really liked Sydney. She was sweet, adorable, and so completely in love with Kyler. Yet, she broke my heart too. She's only ever wanted him and watching him date other girls and then ditch her for them too is horrible. She's always been afraid to tell him how she really felt- she doesn't want to jeopardize their friendship and make it awkward if he doesn't reciprocate those feelings, and she doesn't want her heart to get broken. The scenes where she tries to tell Kyler what she wants, I was like GIRL. Just tell him already! She was so timid and shy during those points and I loved reading about her growing bolder and bolder and becoming more confident in herself. She dated a douche freshman year and he really shattered her self-esteem and made her self conscious when it came to sex. I just hated how dejected she would get to feeling over Kyler, but I'm glad things progressed like they did.

Kyler Freaking Quinn. What do I say? There is so much more to Kyler than meets the eye. Sure he's slept around quite a bit and like the blurb said he really does put the man in man-whore. But all the times he's slept around, he's never truly connected with a girl. It's just been meaningless sex. Watching him discover that sex with the right person is a whole different ballgame and that it can form this incredible connection was so worth every minute of me wanting to pull his hair out!

Sydney is his best friend and therefore he is very protective of her. Ok, he's completely overprotective of her. He's overprotective to the point where if a guy even gets close to her, he's instantly on high alert. He doesn't think any guy is good enough for her and will do anything to keep her from getting her heart broken again. I felt bad because he doesn't realize just how much he's broken her heart over the years. Once he realizes that she loves him, he is completely floored. Taking a look back and reflecting on certain times where she's acted off or strangely, it all clicks for him.

I love books about best friends finding out they have feelings for one another. There's a sweetness about this one in particular that I just adored. I don't feel like it was rushed and I didn't feel like it was unbelievable either. Kyler didn't out and profess his love back to her. It's through being with her and looking at her in a different light that he realizes he's loved her all along, but never thought he would be good enough for someone like her.

As I said, there's a bit of intrigue in the story, which I liked, but it was quite predictable for me. I had figured out who was behind all the stalking pretty quickly. Still, I think it was necessary to the plot and important for Kyler and Syd's developing relationship. It shows you that until a relationship is tested, you don't really know if it will work. But if it's tested and you work through it and come out even stronger, it means it's more than likely going to last.

JLA is one of those authors where if she writes it, I buy it. No questions asked. I don't even have to read the summary! I won't lie. I loved Wait For You, but I think Frigid is going to take the cake for my favorite contemp of hers.

  3. Great Review! I agree with you on everything, especially Kyler :-) I thought the mystery was predictable too but it didn't bother me because it wasn't the main focus of the plot. It was more of a side plot to help develop their relationship. This book was awesome!
