Top Ten Tuesday #21
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.
Top Ten Most Intimidating Books
1. Cinder and Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. (I want to love both of these. I've seen people either love them or hate them. I want to love them!)
2. Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris. (I've been disappointed by the last couple of books, so I'm afraid to see how this will end. Ok, that's a lie, because I totally cheated and flipped to the end to see who she picked.)
3. The Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout (I don't really know why I'm putting this on here. I know I'm going to love the heck out of it because it's freaking JLA. I just wonder if the similarities between it and VA will bother me.)
4. Infinite by Jodi Meadows (If Sam and Ana don't get a HEA.... I just don't even want to talk about it.)
5. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. (I loved her Slammed series, so I'm sure I'm going to love this. But... what if I'm that one exception who doesn't? Everyone raves about this book. So, I'm nervous I won't like it!)
6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (The sheer size alone didn't really phase me. I was terrified of what the end would hold. As J.K. proved in Order and Half-Blood, she is not afraid to kill off some characters!)
7. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (I know you're like- whaaaaaat? I had seen this series forever in the stores, and had always been intrigued but because of the title and the covers I held back. I know, I know. I caved last year and am so glad I did!)
8. A Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin (Ok, size doesn't usually bother me.... but it does here. I like high fantasy, but I'm just afraid that it will be tedious and overwhelming with details.)
9. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (I'm just worried about how this will affect me emotionally. I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to details about the Holocaust and things like that.)
10. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (This is the same as above. I'm afraid emotionally I won't be able to handle this book. It doesn't matter how happy it may be- I still don't know if I'm ready.)
What books intimidated you this week?

Ohhh we have some simiarities with out lists! I included Dead Ever After too! I am dreading reading it because I pretty much know where she is taking it without reading it and I DO NOT LIKE IT! One day I will finally read it. Its a shame cause the series used to be so awesome!
ReplyDeleteGirl! You have got to read Covenant! Its amazing! Not gonna lie, the first one does have similarities to VA (I even commented on it in my review and it didnt help me that I have read VA recently) However as the series goes on, it really stands on its own and becomes its own. Plus, AIden is amazing!
YOU HAVE TO READ HOPELESS! YOU WILL LOVE IT! DO NOT FEAR! COLLEEN HOOVER IS A GENIUS!
I was the same with VA! It took me forever to pick them up! I just never thought I would like them and then I LOVED them. I too finally read them last year and proceeded to kick myself in the ass for waiting so long.
The Fault in Our Stars is on my list too... I'm not emotionally ready... maybe one day lol

I did not like where she took it! But I am firmly Team Eric! And yes- I was so in love with the series! :( I have the first 3 Covenant books, but I was waiting until closer to Sentinel releases so I wouldn't be stuck waiting. And Hopeless is on the agenda next for my free book between reviews.
DeleteCinder is such a creative re-telling! I highly recommend both The Fault In Our Stars and The Book Thief. Though if you are going to pick them up, I'd suggest you have many tissues boxes close by. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! A Cinder fan! Awesome. I am going to- my library has it! I just need to find the time to squeeze it in. I might have to work on preparing myself for the other two though.
DeleteI haven't read anything by Jodi Meadows too. That book has too much hype. Lol
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top 10
I loved Incarnate, but am afraid to read Asunder and now this final one. It was a really great read though.
DeleteGreat list! I feel the same way about The Fault in Our Stars. Also, after Dani's twitter feed on Losing Hope last week, I'm getting a little nervous about that one :-)
ReplyDeleteYes! OMG. I don't know if I'm ready for that emotional of a book! It does help Tonya said Sea of Tranquility was more emotional for her- I've read that one!
DeleteGreat list! That is how I should explain to people why I don't want to read TFIOS. I just don't think i'm emotionally ready for it. It's perfect!

Thanks Kimberly! That's what I tell them everytime I'm asked! Someday, maybe.
DeleteI haven't read Cinder either although I really want to.
ReplyDeleteAt first the VA similarities didn't bother me that much, but then I started noticing a lot of similarities from her other books and it started bugging me.
You gotta read Hopeless, like now!
I already watched all the Harry Potter movies so I can't read the books anymore, I can't read books from movies I've seen because I know the books are nothing like the movies.
OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THE VA series! It's my #2 series EVER! (#1 is Richelle's adult series). Do not read Half Blood first because then VA will feel like a big case of deja vu. This series is amazing!!!!!
Hopeless is on the agenda for my next free book! Especially since I got Losing Hope. And I probably should have clarified- I've read VA too. I ran out of books that currently intimidated me so I threw a few in that used to. I loved VA and if you're referring to her Georgina series as your favorite... OMG. Finally someone to squeal with!!
DeleteI have heard lots of people who really really didn't like Half-Blood because of the similarities to VA. (I'm gonna start VA this week I think -- I'll let you know what I think!) But, reading about what others have said, the series goes off in a different direction after that first book. So, definitely check it out! Because I adore the Covenant series. =)
ReplyDeleteYes! Let me know how you think. I loved VA! And I am definitely reading the Covenant series, but probably closer to Sentinel's release.
DeleteCinder and Scarlet are also on my list! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels intimidated by the hype! Same goes for Song of Ice and Fire. They're huge! And I just haven't the time right now. On the other hand I love the HBO show.
ReplyDeleteVampire Academy is really fantastic and Rose kicks ass! The Fault in Our Stars should also have been on my list because I know for a fact I wouldn't be able to handle it :/
I own Hopeless but haven't read it yet. I think I'll like it but there definitely is a hype about Hoover at the moment and I'm scared it'll backfire on me.
Great list :) You can check out mine here.
Yes! I don't know if I can handle such monstrous books right now! I have too many on my plate as it is! I started watching GoT on HBO, but stopped during the first season- I had too many other shows I was watching.
DeleteA lot of these are on my list as well. Great picks!

Thanks for stopping by Olena!
DeleteI'm scared out of my mind to read The Fault in Our Stars. I got the book a few months ago and then I couldn't help it and read the last page. I'm not sure I'll ever have the courage to read it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure about, Cinder though I see everyone raving about. Maybe some day.
HOPELESS IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS! IT'S AWESOME!
I'm not a huge fan of the True Blood series, I didn't like the books much so I didn't watch the show.
And I haven't read Harry Potter, I'm not sure I will like it. I love romance in my books.
Half-blood does have some similarities to VA but not much, just the first book but its totally different at the same time.
We have a lot of similarities! Maybe we'll get over our fear and read The Fault in Our Stars. Some day, lol.
AHHHH! I do that too! For books like that I'll peek! I have decided I am reading Hopeless as my next freebie book in between reviews. It's SO happening! I loved the Sookie books up until the last few and then I was just reading them to finish the series. Love me some HP! And I have to have romance in my books too, but there's something about J.K's writing that pulled me in and it didn't bother me!
DeleteI've been seeing loads of HP, A Game of Thrones, and Colleen Hoover. I loved HP, hated GoT, and have yet to try Colleen Hoover. Great list.
ReplyDeleteTsuki's TTT
Yeah, I'm not sure GoT would be for me, sadly.
DeleteCinder and Hopeless and HP, I adore. All in my favourite of all time books. A Game of Thrones I have but I can't get into it. TFIOS and The Book Thief I bought recently and yes I'm terrified to read them. I'll probably end up in a ball of misery huddled in the corner!
ReplyDeleteOk. I trust your opinion, so I am definitely going to get Cinder. Soon. Someday? LOL. Aww no huddling in the corner! We will be on Twitter to hold your hand!
DeleteI loved Hopeless! & TFiOS & The Book Thief...and YES I too was terrified to read them, but once you start...you can't stop...kinda like a pringles commercial. Go for it!
ReplyDeleteShelley held my hand through my biggest book fears this year in Blind Obsession by Ella Frank..I was so terrified! And Consequences by Aleatha Romig!
Haha. I trust you Courtney. So I will definitely have to pick them up- whenever I get a review book break! I haven't read those two you mentioned! Will have to look into them!
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
