Billionaire Archer Bancroft always gets what he wants—and he’s wanted Ivy Emerson, his best friend’s sister, for far too long. Being forbidden and untouchable only makes her more tempting. When a million-dollar bet with his friends throws down a challenge—last bachelor standing takes all—Archer knows he can win. That is, until one enchanted evening with Ivy takes his heart for a ride.

Ivy knows Archer is nothing but bad news: Infuriating, arrogant…and completely intoxicating. But despite her best efforts, she can’t seem to keep away. When a stolen kiss leads to a night of heated passion, Ivy realizes she’s in trouble and in head over heels.

But in the light of day, everything seems clearer and Archer’s not so sure a one-night stand is all he wants. Concocting a plan to keep Ivy by his side, Archer might just be willing to lose this bet…and win the jackpot instead.

My Review:

This is actually my first Monica Murphy book. (I know, I KNOW. I have One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend ready to go, I promise!) Needless to say, reading Crave made me an instant fan of Monica's.

Here's a few reasons why you need to read this book:

1) Archer Bancroft.
2) Steamy scenes
3) Sexual Tension/Chemistry
4) Archer Bancroft
5) Strong female MC who is sweet, but also driven and determined
6) Dual POV
7) Archer Bancroft.

SO! Let's start with Archer shall we? Obviously I fell prey to his charms myself! The book begins with Archer, who is at a wedding with his two guy friends, Gage and Matt. The three bachelors are having a good ole discussion about the joys (err, labors) of marriage. Gage certainly seems to be the ringleader in their conversation discussing how before you put a ring on it life is great: lots of sex, etc. and then BOOM! Once you get hitched, it all goes to shit.

"You get that ring on their finger, go through this whole marriage ceremony bullshit and then you're left with nothing but a nagging wife and a limp dick in the aftermath. Always giving you shit because you're never home and you work too much."

However, Archer is rich, good-looking, successful and no matter how tough he talks with the boys, he has a sweet spot for Gage's younger sister Ivy. Matt thinks once Gage and Archer find the right woman they will start singing a different tune. Archer doesn't know of any woman that would be worth shackling himself to- save for one- the one who is completely off limits.

"She's too young, too sweet, too good, too everything I'm not."

If it's one thing Archer is a sucker for- it's a good bet. Matt bets Archer that he'll be the first out of the three to go down and fall in love with someone and ask her to marry him. He even raises the stakes by saying that he'd bet the next woman he talks to is the one he'll end up marrying. Archer knows there isn't any woman in the room who would fit the bill, except for Ivy. Yet, Archer doesn't feel he's remotely good enough for her. He is too afraid that he would end up hurting her and in turn Gage would end up hurting HIM. I really love how Archer goes back and forth with himself over Ivy. He has been interested in her ever since she graduated high school and he is not blind to how beautiful and incredible she is.

Oh the chemistry between Ivy and Archer. I love it. I always love couples that argue and fight because it shows how passionate they are when they're together. Both Ivy and Archer are incredibly stubborn so that adds all the more to their tension.

As Archer says: Ivy is a beautiful, sexy, and confident woman. She is also sweet and has not had much luck with relationships. She always tends to go for the broken guys- the ones she feels like she can try and help fix. Ivy knows how attractive Archer is, yet she also knows about his playboy history. Not to mention, him and Gage used to torment her when she was younger. She always figured he thought of her as Gage's pain in the ass sister, but the way he's looking at her now.... Maybe not.

After one night of unbridled passion, the two realize there's something more there between them, but chalk it up to a mistake. Ivy doesn't think Archer could ever give up his playboy ways and actually commit and Archer isn't looking to settle down either. He's seen his parents in a loveless, cheating marriage and he never wants that to become his reality. It's easier to keep people at a distance than actually let them in and become vulnerable. Even though both have said that night between them was a mistake, they both know that's anything but the truth.

Again with the stubbornness! There is quite a bit of back and forth on their parts because the other is being too pig-headed and prideful to tell the other how they really feel!

Overall, I thought this was a sweet, sexy read and I really enjoyed reading about Archer and Ivy. Archer has to decide if Ivy is worth fighting for and how far he'll go to prove himself to her and Ivy has to decide whether or not she truly trusts Archer not to break her heart.
