College drop-out, Roxy Cumberland, moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his last one night stand? Maybe the fact that she’s dressed in a giant, pink bunny costume...

After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally II isn’t prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigues him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.

Roxy doesn’t need a spoiled rich boy who’s had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there’s more to Louis than his sexy surface and he’s determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.

Chase Me was a fun, sexy read with an even sexier dirty talking male who comes in the form of a do-good lawyer by the name of Louis McNally II. I really enjoyed his flirtatious banter with Roxy, but I really struggled to feel a connection between them. I think a lot of this is due to Roxy's stubborn personality and the way she comes across. It was hard to warm up to her and I don't think I ever really did. I felt sympathy for her, as her situation sucks. I understand her love for acting, as I once wanted to pursue that career myself. There is something so unexplainable about stepping into another role. You completely let who you are go and transform into someone else. It's exhilarating and it's something Roxy desperately wants. She doesn't want to feel like a failure and she certainly doesn't want to be barely making it for the rest of her life.

I loved Louis. He was a genuine good guy who loves doing pro-bono work for clients. I thought that was adorable, as too many lawyers are only in it for the money, so it was nice to see that he cared for them and wanted to help. He is pretty floored when Roxy first shows up on his doorstep in a bunny outfit to present him with a singing telegram about his... man parts. LOL. He is attracted to her instantly and she shocks the heck out of him when she gives him the hottest kiss of his life in the doorway. He's pretty much a goner from there, desperate to track her down and get to know her. Man, he is one persistent guy too. I liked that about him though. He is willing to play the game and chase her a bit, but he knows when to lay off and make her come to him. He is one sexy talker though, and I do love that about Tessa's men.

Overall, I wish I enjoyed this one a bit more. I am a very character driven reader, so if I can't connect to my characters or become invested in their romance, it's hard to enjoy the story for what it is. I am curious to find out more about Honey, Abby, Russell, and Ben though, so I think I will give the second book Need Me a try when it comes out.

  1. I agree with you. I liked this one and it was fun but I did struggle with Roxy at times. I loved Louis McNally the Second, but I couldn't see what made him keep chasing her. It was fun overall though and I did like that so I think I'm going to stick with the series. Great review!

    1. Same here. I was like, wow... you're really going all out for a girl who doesn't seem that into you. LOL. I think Honey and Ben's story will be a good one, so I definitely want that one.

  2. Oooo, Tessa Bailey. I loooooove her Brazen novels. It sucks that you didn't absolutely love this one... because that means I'll be skipping it. I love a book with a good chase though :D I hope you enjoy the next book(s), Jess!

    1. Thanks Alyssa! I was a bit bummed b/c I love Tessa too, but I'm so character driven, so if that doesn't work for me... then I don't know what will.

  3. Louis was the best thing about this book. I completely agree. Yes, Roxy was not the most likeable for me too. I think her bull-headedness was too much. Like how she was willing to strip instead of accepting the job was just too much for me! It definitely wasn't Tessa's best work yet. I hope the next book will be a better reading experience for you, Jessica!

    1. He was awesome! I loved him. I felt for Roxy, but I felt she self-inflicted alot more on herself than she probably needed to. I guess it's the drama queen in her? LOL. I think the next one will be good though. Or I'm hoping!

  4. Louis def won me over very easily. He's such a great guy! Sorry to hear you didn't connect as much with Roxy though. I'm happy you'll still give the rest of the series a try.

    1. Oh yes! I think Honey's story will be cute. And the fact that Tessa mentioned Ben might be her dirtiest talker EVER? Yeah, I'm all over that!

  5. Oh man. I'm bummed you didn't enjoy this one as much. I loved Louis. He was my favorite part of this book for sure. It took some time to connect with Roxy. The next book is Ben's. I think I need some naughty and nerdy professor in my life!

  6. I'm sorry this one didn't quite work for you. :( When the heroine is super stubborn, it's hard for me to like her or to not be annoyed. :/ I heard this one was fun, but I've never had the best of luck with Tessa's books anyway.

Thanks for your honest review, girl!

  7. I skimmed b/c I didn't write my review yet I just finished a couple days ago) but I agree with some of what I saw. It was a nice romance but it didn't have anything super special for me.
