Top Ten Books From My Childhood/Teen Years I'd Like to Revisit

From My Childhood:

1)

(I think one of my elementary school teachers read this to us and I remember LOVING this story.)

2)

Many Waters by Madeline L'Engle

(I had a crush on a set of twins in elementary school, so this book made me think of them. LOL)

3)

Time Enough for Drums by Ann Rinaldi

(I have always been fascinated by war eras, so this one took place during the Revolutionary War and had some forbidden romance in it. The little girl in me swooned over John Reid.)

4)

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

(I was always so interested in the Holocaust and while it was very sad to learn about, I did enjoy reading books set during this time period.)

5)

Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal
The Babysitters Club series by Ann M. Martin

(I loved both of these series as a kid!)

From My Teen Years:

(I honestly struggled with this. It's been a LONG time since I was a teen, and I know I read a lot of required school reading, but don't really remember much pleasure reading from back then...)

6)

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

(I loved this book so much. Michael and Angel's love story is one that I will never ever forget.)

7)

The Gatekeeper Trilogy by Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder

(I actually read a lot of the Season 3 Buffyverse books and remember liking them. I think I especially liked this trilogy.)

 8)

Star Wars Universe books by Various Authors

(I was obsessed with all things Star Wars, so naturally I LOVED the books that came after the movies. Seeing Han and Leia get married, have twins, and keep order in the Universe was EPIC. I desperately think I need a massive reread. Someday.)

I honestly cannot think of anymore that stick out from my teen years. I know I read a lot of inspirational teen historical romance, but after sadly losing all of my precious books to a fire a few years ago, I cannot remember a lot of titles I used to have. So, instead of Top 10, I managed to get 8!

  4. What a great list, Jessica! You have several from your childhood that I loved such as Number the Stars and the Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley High series! Also, I read Redeeming Love as an adult and I loved it! I definitely should read that one again. I just re-read her Mark of the Lion trilogy--at least the first one.

    1. I love Redeeming Love Katie! I definitely want to reread it soon! I haven't read any of her others I don't think, but I know my best friend enjoyed the Mark of the Lion books. I would like to go back and reread Number the Stars at some point though. It's been SO long!

  5. I was obsessed with the Babysitter's Club series. I did have the entire series but I don't know what happened to those books. I still have the movie and have watched it recently. I have a few of the Buffy books but I haven't read them, I just bought them at a library sale not that long ago. I didn't know that there were Star Wars books.

    1. YES! SHERI. I am desperately wanting to reread those SW books. I'll have to try and get them from the library bc there's no way I can rebuy them all again. Haha. They were so epic. Seriously. I was ADDICTED.

  8. Fantastic list Jessica^^ I have Sweet Valley High on my list but I can't believe I forgot to add The Babysitter's Club to the mix, I adored both of those series growing up!! I think I read the entire Babysitter's Club collection...unless they've kept going with them LOL And as for Sweet Valley, I think there were 100 books in that series, which I owned and read in it's entirety...before getting into the University ones...which weren't as good. I gave up on the series soon after.

Here's my TTT post this week!

    1. Thanks Micheline! Yay for Sweet Valley! I think I read most of the high school ones too, but I don't think I read the university ones. I just went and was reading the wikipedias and saw what they did to the characters and was like, uh no.

  12. I would love to go back and reread The Babysitter's Club. I never did get the chance to read all of them. (Nor do I own them all.) But I do still have a few of the books.
I didn't watch Buffy until after it was all over, but I love the show, so Buffy books sound awesome!
