Mini Challenge #1: Mix and Match

The goal of this challenge was to mash up a non-bookish hobby/passion/talent/fandom since there are so many other things we are passionate about besides books!

1. My dog Jack, who is essentially my child. LOL. He is part Daschund, part Jack Russell terrier. He's got a lot of personality, that's for sure!

2. My Alex and Ani obsession (I have more bracelets than those pictured.) And my tattoo, which says 'Know Thyself' in Latin. I love tattoos and am looking forward to getting more.

3. Neyland Stadium, The University of Tennessee (my alma mater and favorite college football team).

4. Bonnaroo is a 4 day music festival on a farm in Manchester, Tennessee. I've gone twice now and just love the atmosphere and the great music I've gotten to see.

5. Hamilton the Musical is pretty much my life right now. I can't seem to listen to anything else. I am 100% obsessed. I can't get through my day without thinking about or referencing Hamilton in some way.

6. One of my many meals that I cooked for Tasty Tuesday on the blog. I love to cook so much!

7. Panama City Beach, Florida. I love being at the beach and living that salt life!

I am so excited to take part in the Love-A-Thon this year hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books, Cee from The Novel Hermit, Hazel from Stay Bookish, and Mel from The Daily Prophecy!

This will be my second year participating and I can't wait to get to know some new bloggers and love on ones I've already met!

First up is a little About Me post!

Questionnaire

1. What is your name?

Jessica

2. Where in the world are you blogging from?

Tennessee

3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?

3 years ago I decided to start a blog as a means of remembering all the books I was blowing through at the time. As time went on, I became more involved in the community and it evolved from there.

4. How did you come up with your blog name?

I am a Spanish teacher, so I decided to add that into my blog name.

5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

I mainly read and review contemporary romance the most- YA, NA, and Adult. However, I do like to read and review plenty of others too. Those are just the ones I do the most of.

6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

This year has been geared toward getting myself excited about reading and blogging again! I started a new feature called The Monday Musts, where you give a must read book, a must listen (music, audiobook, etc.), and a must see (can be ANYTHING. Bookish, blogging, tv/film, youtube videos, etc.) I've been so happy to have other bloggers participating with me!

I also do W...W...W...Wednesday, which I altered a bit to better fit me. I answer three questions every week: 1. What are you currently reading? 2. What book did you recently finish? 3. What book are you waiting on?

I also do Weekly Wrap-Up posts and will occasionally do Top Ten Tuesday. I love to cook so I also feature a new recipe every week for Tasty Tuesday!

Sporadically, I'll do some different fun book-related posts like book tags, discussions, etc.

7. Best blogging experience so far?

In addition to attending BEA in 2014, I was asked to moderate the Boldly Bookish panel by Bloomsbury for authors Trish Doller, Emery Lord, A.C. Gaughen, and Tiffany Schmidt. It was so awesome to ask them questions and hang out with them beforehand!

8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?

The people I've met without a doubt. The friendships I've made are so important to me and I am so happy I have so many different people to talk books with! I have met some of my very best friends through blogging I could not function on a daily basis without them.

9. Name the 5 books you're most excited for this 2016!

1. The Goal by Elle Kennedy
2. Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
3. The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent
4. The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5. Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge

10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn't get to in previous years!

1. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
2. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
3. Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas
4. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
5. Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross

11. What's an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

I just recently read Cori McCarthy's You Were Here and I absolutely loved it. It releases March 1st and I think it's one that could slip under the radar, but I'd hate for that to happen!

12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

The boys from Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series: Garrett Graham, John Logan, Dean Di-Laurentis, and John Tucker! They are SO funny together. And great guys!

13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?

Ryan Stone from Katie McGarry's Dare You To. I have so much love for that boy.

14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad?

Dimitri Belikov, Rose Hathaway, Katsa, Hermione Granger, and The Darkling

(Dimitri, Rose, and Katsa are obviously the muscle, Hermione is the brains, and The Darkling is the one who will keep everyone alive because he's absolutely ruthless and will not show mercy.)

15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies/interests?

I love to watch college football and basketball- I am a huge Tennessee Vol and Syracuse Orange fan. I love music, so I love going to shows and music festivals. I love to cook, travel, and spend time with my family and dog. I have an off/on relationship with World of Warcraft too. It's just something I've never been able to quit fully.

16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

Food. I love to cook. Haha. I do like shopping for jewelry, shoes, scarves, and if I had unlimited funds I would buy all the Alex and Ani bracelets and Funko POP!s.

17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song- and it's your song. What song would be playing?

Ok. So. Those of you that follow my blog and/or Twitter probably know about my Hamilton obsession of late. So if the opening song 'Alexander Hamilton' came on, I would be standing on a table rapping my little heart out.

18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

Hm. This is always such a tricky question. Having just read the Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn Fisher, I think I could so be down for that tv show. But I might actually throw something at my TV, so let's not. How about Emmy & Oliver? That would be such a good movie!

19. What would your dream library look like?

According to lonerwolf.com, this is George Lucas' private library. I love all the wood and leather! It just looks cozy to me!

20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea coffee and drinks with?

I am not a tea drinker, so I'll change to coffee! I would totally go get coffee with Morgan Matson. She was so sweet to meet and I bet she'd be a lot of fun to talk to!

I'm stealing this from Wendy, but I would go get drinks with some of my romance ladies: Brighton Walsh, Emma Chase, Katy Evans, Megan Erickson, Lia Riley, Tessa Bailey, Elle Kennedy, and Jen Frederick.

(I can't even imagine how crazy that shit would be.)

Mini-Challenge #4:

Snapshots

First up are two things I love very much: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and the Tennessee Vols!

Jase Garrett is the type of boy you dream about....

(I tried wrapping the bunny's arms around Incarnate, LOL.) This is to symbolize my love for this book and the fact that I read the masquerade scene over and over and OVER.

I love my McGarry boys! You notice Ryan Stone is at the forefront. He is definitely a top book boyfriend.

Two more things I love: my dog and Defiance by C.J. Redwine!

LOVE my books! <3

Mini-Challenge #2:

Book Valentines

Today I have written a Valentine to one of my favorite book boyfriends Jonah Whitecomb from Heather Lyons' The Fate Series. Heather and I both share such a love for music, so it's only fitting my Valentine is comprised of song lyrics. (And they are all bands I know Heather loves.)

Like a River Runs by Bleachers
Agape by Bear's Den
Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie
I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab For Cutie

Lately, I would have to say New Adult contemporary romances. I am trying to get back into Young Adult, as that is what my blog originally began as.

6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

I do a few bookish memes- Stacking the Shelves and Top Ten Tuesday; I love music so I do a Music Monday post. I love to cook so I recently started a Tasty Tuesday post. I am thinking about adding discussion posts as well. Sporadically, I'll do some different fun book-related posts like the TBR Tag, etc.

I don't shop very often, but I do love buying sweaters, scarves, shoes, and jewelry.

14. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song- and it's your song. What song would be playing?

Oh my. This question is not even fair. I guess I would say, "The Was A Crazy Game of Poker" by O.A.R. I would squeal and then dance and sing at the top of my lungs.

15. What book would you want to be turned into a film/TV show?

Hm. I know I just started the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill, but I think that would be fun to see on screen. I miss the Buffy days!
