Top Ten Books That Broke My Heart A Little

(This week's Top Ten Tuesday was a REWIND: we were to pick a topic we missed or an old favorite!)

1.  Mockingjay (Hunger Games #3) by Suzanne Collins. (I was so mad at this book. For SO many reasons. I did not like the way she ended things and the route she took. Because it was too much in my opinion. I don't want to give anything away, but: Peeta, Prim, Gale. My heart hurt so much.)

2. Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker (Ok, so I just read this and I LOVED it. It is an amazing New Adult/Contemp. read and Tucker definitely doesn't hold back on getting you to FEEL every thing the main character Kacey does.)

3. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. (THIS book. Whew. I was tearing up at pretty much any scene with Noah and his brothers. It was hearbreakingly beautiful. And Echo. Oh, poor Echo, who has had to deal with more than a teenager EVER should.)

4. Everneath by Brodi Ashton. (I can't tell you how much I grieved for Nikki. She made me so sad because she was in an impossible situation and the whole book I just felt like we see her at her lowest and it's so sad.)

5.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (HP #5) by J.K. Rowling. (One name: SIRIUS BLACK. The end.)

6. Defiance by C.J. Redwine. (I almost went a whole top ten list without listing this book. LOL. One scene to top them all: the wagon scene. If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't-GO BUY IT!)

7. The Sweetest Dark (Sweetest Dark #1) by Shana Abé. (Shana- how could you?! That ending! How could you????)

8. Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson #3) by Patricia Briggs (What happens to Mercy in this book is horrible. I hate seeing strong females get their spirit broken due to some jackhole male. Grrr.)

9. Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead. (You're not human if the end of that book didn't shatter your world.)

10. Shift (Shade #2) by Jeri Smith-Ready. (My heart broke for Logan, Zach, and Aura. All three of them went through alot this book, but there was also a lot of growing and change for them also, which I liked.)

    1. You'll have to let me know how you like Sweetest Dark. I liked it pretty well, even though I was sad.

  7. I totally agree with the one about Mockingjay. Those books were emotional to begin with but that book was unnecessaraly heartbreaking. I was messed up for weeks afterword.

    1. Yes. It was completely unnecessary to do that to us readers! I didn't feel like it was needed for the storyline to succeed.

  8. I've read about half of those books and agree. The ones I have read also just break my heart in two.

  9. Ten Tiny Breaths broke my heart a bit as well. I think the last Harry Potter book is the one that completely and totally shattered me though. I was crying for hours (I read it in the middle of the night for this reason) and I don't usually physically react to books like that.

    1. I really toyed with putting the last HP book on here also. I forgot I wanted to do an honorary mention and that was going to be it. Blogger was making me mad because it wouldn't do what I want and then I forgot to add it.

  10. Okay, I've only read Mockingjay and Harry Potter, but I definitely agree! I was pretty unhappy with the ending of the Hunger Games series as well. You're making me REALLY want to read Defiance already. WHY does there have to be so many books that I want to read?!

    1. Haha you know by now how much I LOVE Defiance! I agree. I have way too many books on my TBR list! At this rate, I'd say I'm set for at least 5 years!

  11. Mockingjay :( I think I cried my way through most of that. The Harry Potter thing, YES! I was so mad. I think I literally yelled "Come on really?!?!" at the book.

It's been a while since I read VA and I had an idea what you meant but I went and grabbed my copy of Shadow Kiss just to be sure and ugh...trust me I'm human. I was broken. Annnnnd now I want to read the series again. Thanks a lot! :P

  13. Oh no! I am reading Pushing the Limits super soon--- not sure I am ready for my heart to hurt!! I heard it was about kissing. haha I really want to read the Shade series-- a friend let me borrow the second 2 books, so I still have to get the first before I can start! Ugh... and yes.... 14. I have to admit, I kind of ship Lora with Armand in The Sweetest Dark! That usually never happens, but I didn't really believe her and Jesse's connection, so for me the ending was just sort of shrug-worthy. I am definitely interested to see what comes next, though!
