Weekly Wrap-Up #43
First let me say- Happy New Year everyone!!! Here's to a new year with new resolutions and goals! My one year blogoversary is coming up in February and I am so excited! I need to start planning some exciting things for you all. :)
I also played around with PicMonkey and made some new banners. People have telling me they are cute and they don't suck, so that's cool. LOL.
It's that time again. I start school back up on Monday. After 2 weeks off, it's probably really bad I'm hoping we get a snow day. I love teaching, don't get me wrong, but lately... I'm not sure it's what I see myself doing for the rest of my life. I LOVE promoting authors and their books. SO much. Want to know a secret? I am really thinking of looking into what it would take to work in PR for a publishing company. There. I said it kind out of loud. I think about books 24/7. Really. I eat, sleep, breathe, read. I'm at school and I can't focus on teaching Spanish because my head is usually wrapped up in my current read. Yeah, it's pretty bad. Thoughts? Advice? Would love some.

I will be your guinea pig author if you want to practice book PR, LOL!! I think it is important to say what you dream, because putting it out there and sharing it publicly allows for people to cheer you on and support you in chasing your dream.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I used to work in media relations for a PR firm in Dallas, so if you have any general questions about the industry, I could maybe answer some for you. I didn't promote anything exciting like books, though. Quick service Mexican food, auto parts, and a franchised child care chain were my exciting clients. ;-)
I love you girl! I will definitely do that for you! Thank you SO much for this! I definitely have questions- I just need to find the time to sit down and think of what I'm wanting to know!
DeleteA snow day sounds good to me! :-) I hear ya! There are so many days when I'm at work and all I'm thinking about is the book I'm reading or going to read next.
ReplyDelete:D I shouldn't bring books with me to read on my lunch because it only keeps me thoughts consumed the rest of the day! And then I'm tortured until I can get home!
DeleteOh, promoting books sounds awesome! And you know, if you want to make a change, you should do all you can to make it happen! I used to be an accountant (and I was pretty good at it) but I started hating the 'running after money' thing. So in 2010, I quit my job and went back to Uni. I'll be sending you positive thoughts so that you can go after your dreams with all you have :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading :)

Thanks so much Lexxie! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you telling me that! That's awesome you decided to change your mind! It definitely gives me some encouragement that I can do it!
DeleteI am always amazed on how many post you made a week. It's crazy. Good crazy, but still :)
ReplyDeleteI think you would be great in PR! Especially since you are so passionate! I can help you, although I don't know how much help I would be LOL
I am kinda wishing for a snow day too. Mainly because I went 9 days without my babies.
LOL, thanks girl. I appreciate everyone's positive feedback! It really brings a huge smile to my face!
DeleteThat's awesome!!! I totally understand always thinking about books! I do it too lol! I bet you would be amazing in PR! Follow the path that makes you the happiest! and Good Luck!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Caitlin!!! :D
DeleteMy head is always in my books too! I know how you feel! Anyway, my comment is late in coming but I think you would do great in PR! It really is about what YOU want to do.and it is scary saying it out loud and putting it out there! i understand. =) It's interesting because as I'm nearing graduation and people ask me if I'm excited, I'm like, yeah, this was 4 years of hell and I would never do it again. haha. so yes, i'm obviously going to do dentist things and pay back my mountain of debt but I sometimes harbor the secret hope that I'll one day *whisper* write a book. Something I dreamed of throughout my childhood and high school but somehow got dropped along the way. All that to say -- I think you'd definitely have the passion for that! Dreams are important!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! <3 I think once things settle down you should definitely write a book! I would be behind you all the way! And then I can promote your awesomeness!
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
