2015 Love-a-Thon Questionnaire
I am so excited to take part in the Love-A-Thon this year hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books! This will be my first year participating and I can't wait to get to know some new bloggers!
First up is a little About Me post!
Questionnaire
1. What is your name?
Jessica
2. Where in the world are you blogging from?
Tennessee!
3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?
Two years ago I decided to start a blog as a means of remembering all the books I was blowing through at the time. As time went on, I became more involved in the community and evolved.
4. How did you come up with your blog name?
I am currently a Spanish teacher, so I decided to add that into my blog name.
5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
Lately, I would have to say New Adult contemporary romances. I am trying to get back into Young Adult, as that is what my blog originally began as.
6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
I do a few bookish memes- Stacking the Shelves and Top Ten Tuesday; I love music so I do a Music Monday post. I love to cook so I recently started a Tasty Tuesday post. I am thinking about adding discussion posts as well. Sporadically, I'll do some different fun book-related posts like the TBR Tag, etc.
7. Best blogging experience so far?
I'd have to say attending BEA last year as a blogger. It was awesome to meet so many fellow bloggers and interact with authors I love. It's also a big moment when I introduce myself and people recognize my blog.
8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?
The people I've met without a doubt. The friendships I've made are so important to me and I am so happy I have so many different people to talk books with!
9. Name the 5 books you're most excited for this 2015!
1. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West
2. Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry
3. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
4. The Devil You Know by Trish Doller
5. Up in Smoke by Tessa Bailey
10. What's an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
The Taking series by Melissa West. It's YA Science Fiction and I really love it!
11. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
Roar from Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
12. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies/interests?
I love to watch college football and basketball- I am a huge Tennessee Vol and Syracuse Orange fan. I love music, so I love going to shows and music festivals. I also love to cook! I have an adorable dog who is part Daschund, Jack Russell Terrier, and Schnauzer. He's adorable. LOL. I love to travel. I have been to England, France, Ireland, and Italy so far. I have also been to quite a few places here in the States.
13. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
I don't shop very often, but I do love buying sweaters, scarves, shoes, and jewelry.
14. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song- and it's your song. What song would be playing?
Oh my. This question is not even fair. I guess I would say, "The Was A Crazy Game of Poker" by O.A.R. I would squeal and then dance and sing at the top of my lungs.
15. What book would you want to be turned into a film/TV show?
Hm. I know I just started the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill, but I think that would be fun to see on screen. I miss the Buffy days!

DeleteI think it's so cool that you're a Spanish teacher! I've always wanted to be fluent in another language, but sadly, languages are NOT my forte. Also, yes to Queen of Shadows - I need that book in my life!

ReplyDeleteBEA - oh such fun times! We'll make new memories at UtopYA for sure. You've been such a wonderful friend, girl. <3
I did know this D. I'm going to overlook it because I like you so much. ;)
DeleteHi Jessica! I love that your blog name was influenced by your career. That's really awesome. I completely agree with you on The Taking series. It's so underrated and under-read and it's actually fun and action-packed series. Roar would totally be my BFF too! We'll have to learn to share. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Nowhere But Here, The Devil You Know and The Fill-In Boyfriend either. I'm praying to the book gods they will go up on EW or NG!
It was nice getting to know you!! I see you interacting often with Danielle, so I figured you must be awesome! :)
NICK. I love you. That's all.
DeleteYou DO love that New Adult though! :D And I can't wait to read The Fill-in Boyfriend and Queen of Shadows as well :D I'm thinking about doing this survey, it seems cool!
ReplyDeleteI've loved knowing you these past two years! Here's hoping we'll meet someday in person :)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Haha, me and NA. I can't seem to break up with it even when it pisses me off.
DeleteI loooove Roar! He's my favorite character from that series.
ReplyDeleteHe was definitely great! I'd still like to see another book just about him.
DeleteEven though I already knew you were a teacher, I still think it's so cool! Teachers unite! lol
ReplyDeleteAnd now I am officially jealous! You've been to Ireland! That is the one place I have to go before I die. My ancestors built castles there, so I need to get there and see the only one that still stands, plus I need to do all the other things that the Irish do when in Ireland. lol
Yay go us! :D Oh wow, that is so cool about your ancestors! You definitely need to make it there then!
DeleteThe Fill-In Boyfriend is a book that I am looking forward to as well. Plus, I love your name!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica!
DeleteI didn't know you're a Spanish teacher! How fun!! :) I need Queen of Shadows so bad, same for The Fill-in Boyfriend. I NEED THEM. I'd love to be friends with Roar, he's the best ;D I'm so glad you had fun at BEA, I hope to get there eventually ;) Lovely getting to know you hun <33
ReplyDeleteI am! Most days I love it. :)
DeleteYAY! You live close to me! I can't wait to finally attend BEA, I won't be able to go this year as I don't get finished with nursing school until July (hopefully) but I PLAN to go next year :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! We need to get together for bookish events Christy!
DeleteAh yes someone else who likes buying scarves! I'm not much for shopping for clothes, but scarves are my weak spot. Too bad I live in south Texas where I hardly ever get to wear them.
ReplyDeleteAwww. I'm afraid to move somewhere warmer because then I wouldn't get to wear them!
DeleteAhhh Queen of Shadows YES YES YES. Of course that is what I zeroed in on lol. BEA was so much fun and I can't wait for us to go to a signing together again.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Of course you zeroed in on QoS! We're obsessed! We WILL go to another signing together. Someday. It will happen.
DeleteI shop way too much. Can you lend me some of your self-control?
ReplyDeleteIt was so great meeting you at BEA last year! Are you going again this year? I am trying my best to make it there!
Queen of Shadows!!!! I'm dying. If they have ARCs at BEA, I will definitely be waiting in what is sure to be another 3 hour line.
Rofl! I don't know why I can't stand shopping. I never have liked it. I wish I could have gone to BEA. You guys had so much fun. I'm sad there are no ARCs of QoS though.
DeleteHey, it's my first year doing this as well! I love your blog name. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHi Jessica! I'm so envious that you got to visit BEA! I wish I could too! One day!
ReplyDeleteOne day! You've got to make it happen. It's such a great time!
DeleteSWEATERS AND SCARVES ARE THE BESTTTT. I need to go shopping for sweaters because I can only find my holiday sweaters, and well, people will look at me weird. ;)
ReplyDeleteROFL. I love sweater weather. It makes me so happy. Same for scarves.
DeleteI love scarves! I have so many and never get enough wear out of them! Oh QUEEN OF SHADOWSSSS. I feel like most of the book world is going to spontaneously combust when that releases. Haha. I'm also super excited for nowhere but home and the devil you know! :) I also miss buffy!! confession: i'm not sure I ever finished the last season. I KNOW what happens so sometimes I get confused if I actually finished it or not. I feel a rewatch coming on!
ReplyDeleteI don't wear them enough either because I tend to stick with my faves, even though I always want to wear a different one. I have a matching thing though.
DeleteI can't believe this is the first time I've visited your blog! I love your tweets so I'm sure your posts are even better! : )
ReplyDeleteSo BEA is on my to-do list this year and I really hope I can make it happen!
The Taking series sounds awesome - officially TBRed. Under the Never Sky is also a book I MUST read. I own it, gah!
And the Chicagoland Vampires! YAAAASSS! Merit! Would love to see her brought to life! :)
:) Thanks Let! I'm glad you stopped by!
DeleteI haven't read the Chicagoland Vampire series *hangs head in shame*. I love Buffy! I have that show on DVD. I don't shop often either. I think it's cool that you're a Spanish teacher. I also love New Adult and I can't wait to read Nowhere But Here!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Britt! I only read them recently. :D I have all the seasons of Buffy too. I need a rewatch soon.
DeleteHiiiii Jessica!
ReplyDeleteI review a lot of NA on my blog too! I JUST CAN'T ESCAPE THIS GENRE! :P I'm attending BEA for the first time this year and I CANNOT wait! I've heard it's overwhelming but also one of the best experiences ever. And I get to meet two of my best blogging buds so that makes me double excited! The people I've met are definitely the best part of this community. But as a whole as well. I love being a part of this wonderful thing!
So jealous you've been to Ireland! That is one of the countries in my top 5 to travel to someday. And I love Roar too!! :)
It was nice getting to know youuuu!
I can't escape it either Holly! I'm so glad I met you!
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
