Top Ten Books For Readers Who Like New Adult Contemporary Romance
Ok friends. I read ALOT of New Adult so narrowing this down to the ten I would recommend without hesitation was pretty hard. I did try to pick books that I felt weren't clichéd of the genre and ones that didn't go overboard on sex scenes either.
I have included links to GR for you to read the blurbs and see other reviews, as well as linked to my own review to see what I had to say about the books.
1)
The Deal by Elle Kennedy
(This one goes first on my list, as it's one of my more recent NA loves. I don't even know. This story was just so much fun, I loved the setting, the characters, the romance... It just WORKED. I really feel this is what NA should be!)
2)
Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker
(Another recent read. I love the intricacies of the plot, as well as the build of the romance. Once I got past the slower beginning, I was hooked and could NOT put this down.)
3)
Caged in Winter by Brighton Walsh
(Another one I just adored. I love character driven novels and this one was certainly that. The characters were great and I really liked watching the characters push through one another's walls.)
4)
Make it Count by Megan Erickson
(This is such a fun, quirky, cute book. I loved the main character Kat, because her inner monologue was hilarious. I love how scatter brained she was. Alec also has a pompadour and is nicknamed 'Zuk'. Swoon.)
5)
He Belongs With Me by Sarah Darlington
(This book completely took me by surprise. This is Sarah's debut novel and I really loved the characters. I know the blurb gives off a love triangle feel, but trust me. Just read this one.)
6)
Before You Break by Christina Lee
(Oh man. This is my favorite of the Between Breaths series by Christina Lee. I absolutely adored Ella and Quinn, and their story is just beautiful. Pst- Quinn is a baseball player. Swooooon!)
7)
Be With Me by J.Lynn
(Seriously. Picking just ONE JLA NA book was hard. I had to go with my boy Jase though. I loved his story and I loved him and Teresa together.)
8)
Catching Liam by Gennifer Albin
(I went into this one thinking it would be all fun and flirty, which it was, but it also had a rather serious undertone that took me by surprise and melted my heart. Read this one because Liam is: a. Scottish and b. makes waffles.)
9)
Unafraid by Melody Grace
(I am a huge fan of Melody's Beachwood Bay series and this one has to be my favorite. I loved Hunter and Brit- Hunter being wealthy, privileged, and Brit being the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. It makes for great chemistry and a great story. This one is probably the steamiest of all the books on my list FYI.)
10)
Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey
(This was rec'd to me by a few blogging friends and I'm so glad I read it. I love sports related romances and Kinsley, the MC, is HILARIOUS. No, seriously. She cracked me up the entire time!!! Liam is seriously hot too. I like that he's her coach, so it's forbidden.)

I always struggle with just picking one JLA book when I make my lists lol its not fair, she has so many good ones to choose from! Love Caged In Winter - Cade *swoons* and I seriously need to read The Deal, everyone is loving it. Great list!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Right? Picking one JLA book is not fun! Yay for Cade! OMG. I'm reading Tessa though and I think I love it even more than CiW! And YES. You do need to read The Deal. You will LOVE it. It's what a true college NA should be!
DeleteNice list!! I haven't read any of these yet, but I just started reading more New Adult books last year. I have a copy of Be With Me. I'm happy to see that you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT: http://www.jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2015/03/top-ten-tuesday-books-for-readers-who.html
Yay! I'm glad to hear that! I do love NA because sometimes YA is just a little too young for me, so I like escaping to a slightly older age group. I really love Be With Me. Jase is one swoony boy. :D
DeleteNice picks! Not my kind of read but seeing some familiar titles at least! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
:) Thanks for stopping by Jessica!
DeleteNice list of books!! I like the cover for Caged in Winter! Here's a link to my TTT post for the week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/03/top-ten-tuesday-ten-books-for-readers.html
ReplyDeleteI love Caged in Winter! It's a favorite for sure! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat list, lady! So so happy you chose Caged in Winter! And I just love JLA's series (Wait for You is my favorite, but Teresa is probably my favorite heroine). Definitely going to check out He Belongs with Me on Goodreads - I don't think I've heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! I did love Wait for You, because Cam... sigh. So great. He Belongs with Me isn't for everyone- it's love triangley, so I don't think you'd like it. Haha.
DeleteI NEED to read The Deal and Make it Count like yesterday! Never heard of Catching Liam but omg SCOTTISH?! *one clicks like there is no tomorrow* Scoring Wilder has been popping up on my GR feed so I'll definitely be looking into it. I LOVE Abigail Haas aka Melody Grace so I definitely need to read one of her NAs!
ReplyDeleteYes! I cannot endorse The Deal enough! It's my latest obsession. Oh I loved Catching Liam! And he totally wears a kilt at one point, so I was dying. She's a fun author too. I think you'll like Scoring Wilder- Wendy told me about it and I loved the humor! I haven't read one of Melody's books as Abigail yet! I want to!
DeleteYou've definitely listed a ton of my favorites here. I need to get caught back up on Melody Grace's series. I've really enjoyed the books I've read in it though. I read He Belongs with Me and, unfortunately, didn't love it. I just didn't connect with the characters. Could've been my mood at the time. LOL. But I couldn't agree more about The Deal and the others. Great list for anyone looking to read some NA! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like Melody's series. I haven't read her most recent, but I've always enjoyed her books. Bummer He Belongs With Me didn't quite work for you! It caught me by surprise so I was happy with the outcome. GAH. The Deal. I want The Mistake so badly!
Deletei have slowly been trying to break into this genre. NA is awesome! most recently in this genre i read Kristy Centeno and Dahlia Adhler. both their books were amazing! great list!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wholly-books.com
I haven't read either Dahlia or Kristy's but I am definitely adding to my list! This genre isn't for everyone, but if you can find the kind you like, I think it works.
DeleteAdding every one of these to my TBR list! They all look amazing. I've heard great things about JLA's NA books and K.A. Tucker.
ReplyDeleteYay! JLA and K.A. are both serious favorites so I hope you enjoy them! I really love NA and if you find the kind that fits your style, it's definitely a good thing!
DeleteAh, Catching Liam! I have this one too and keep forgetting about it. I loved Make it Count too!!
ReplyDeleteCatching Liam is a blast. I really love that boy. Yay for crazy Kat! Haha. And Alec. I want a boy with a pompadour.
DeleteCage and Jase! AH! YES!
ReplyDelete:D JASE is my boy! I miss him and I think I need reread soon!
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
