He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

If you have not picked up this series yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! OMG. Without a doubt, this series will be one of my favorites of 2015. Hands down, it is everything I want in a college new adult story. After LOVING The Deal, I am so happy to say I loved The Mistake just as much. I was a little nervous going in because you always wonder if the next book in a series will be as amazing as the first one. The answer is yes. I loved Logan and Grace's story and I am already beyond ready for the next book to be in my hands!

I won't lie. I didn't immediately fall for John Logan like I did Garrett. I didn't like how he left his first encounter with Grace and after he messes up again?  He not only had to win Grace back, but he had to win ME back as well! He succeeds naturally, and I really liked the lengths he went to in order to make things right. Logan is extremely loyal to the people he cares for, even to the point of sacrificing his future to do what's right by his family. I admired him for that, which made me hurt for him all the more. His parents are divorced, but he and his brother feel obligated to take care of their alcoholic father who was previously injured due to an accident. While Logan may resent his father, he can't completely write him off. He remembers the days when his dad was a great dad to him, so even though he's suffocating under the weight of addition, Logan can't seem to let him drown in it. Even though it took a bit for him to win me over, I did fall pretty hard for him. He's a good guy, who made a few stupid guy mistakes, but he really likes Grace and wants her to see that he's the guy for her and he's going to succeed in winning her heart.

I liked Grace. She was really sweet and I love that she doesn't put up with crap. Her best friend takes her for granted and I was really happy with Grace put her foot down and said no more. She does the same with Logan- she won't let him use her and after he messes up, she really makes him work to get her back again. I love female leads who don't let themselves fall all over a guy just because he's hot and knows how to turn on the charm.

Logan and Grace have some seriously hot chemistry and I loved their scenes together. Even though Grace is a virgin, Logan is patient with her and doesn't push her before she's ready. They have such an easygoing way about them. Grace is definitely low drama, but she does have a few brief moments of jealousy when it comes to all of Logan's past conquests, which I can't really blame her for.

I'm glad we got to see Garrett and Hannah again, as well as the other occupants of the house- Dean and Tucker. These guys crack me up so much and I love witnessing their hilarious banter. The way they would poke fun at one another was so great and I really hope we get their stories.

All in all, this was another win for me. It's steamy, sexy, filled with humor and fun, and I didn't want to put it down!

  1. I am so so so happy you loved this one as much as I did, Jess! I agree with your assessment of Logan. He certainly had to win me over, but he totally did after that poem. And OMG DEAN! He is hilarious. His "perfect dick shot" conversation had me bowling over in laughter. I honestly think the banter between the boys is better than the banter between Logan and Grace (which was perfect btw!).
I can't wait to read more books by Elle in this series. She's seriously talented.
    Lovely review, Jess! :)

  3. Okay, I haven't read The Deal yet. *hides* But I just read a fabulous review for it and I really should get started on this series. This book looks pretty great too--I love it when characters are willing to do anything to win back someone's trust. And I love what you said about Logan not pushing Grace to do anything she isn't ready for--chivalry isn't dead yet! ;)

  5. Great review! I love these books! I actually fell for Logan in The Deal so I already loved him going into The Mistake. He did upset me with how he handled things with Grace in the beginning but I loved how hard he worked to win her back. This series has been so much fun to read. The banter is amazing! *sigh* I've just loved everything about these books. I was proud of Grace for not immediately forgiving her friend. DEAN! I can't wait to read his book.
