The Monday Musts: The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, The OC Mixes, SE-YA in the Boro Young Adult Book Festival
The Monday Musts is a new weekly meme I started and will be doing
instead of Music Monday. This way I can combine my love of music to fit
better with my book blog.
I would love for others to join me in doing The Monday Musts! I have
included a Linky at the end of my post, so please share your Monday
Musts!
It's super easy to do. What is a must read book? What album/song/artist
is a must listen? And finally what has caught your eye that is a must
see? (Can be ANYTHING. Other blogs, bookish things, pictures, etc.)
This week's MUSTS:
Must Read:
I really enjoyed this one! It was so much fun and SO action packed! I loved how fast paced it was and how I could not figure out the whodunit aspect! I am super excited to dive into its sequel The Long Game, out this June!
Must Listen:
I don't really even know what prompted me to choose these this week, but I have to admit, it's nice to go back and reminisce! TV shows have always been a prime source of new music for me and The OC had some of the best music to date.
Favorite Tracks:
Mix 1:
The Way We Get By- Spoon; Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch; California by Phantom Planet; Rain City by Turin Brakes
Mix 2:
Smile Like You Mean It by The Killers; A Lack of Color by Death Cab For Cutie; If You Leave by Nada Surf; Something Pretty by Patrick Park; Popular Mechanics for Lovers by Beulah; Maybe I'm Amazed by Jem
Mix 4:
Goodnight and Go by Imogen Heap; Scarecrow by Beck; The View by Modest Mouse; To Be Alone With You by Sufjan Stevens; Champagne Supernova by Matt Pond PA
Mix 5:
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap
Must See:
SE-YA in the Boro YA Book Festival is THIS WEEKEND! AHHH! Our very first book festival and it's in my TOWN! I'm so flipping excited! We have a great line up for the first annual festival, founded by Sharon Cameron, Courtney Stevens, and a wonderful group of librarians.
What's super awesome is that Friday March 11th is Teen Day, which I am excited to be chaperoning! The festival will be open to the public on Saturday March 12th. You can see the full list of authors at the link below, as well as the schedule for signings and panels.
If Tennessee is within driving distance for you, come on down!
Who am I most excited for?
Katie McGarry
CJ Redwine
Victoria Schwab
Katie Cotugno
Adam Silvera

That book festival sounds like so much fun! I think I amy go to YallWest at the end of April. It will require some travel but one of my high school friends is a librarian who's library is sponsoring this event. I would love to see him again, so I really want to go. Lucky for you, your festival is close by. Have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteThe Fixer is one that has been on my list since it came out. Very cool about the festival. Looks like a lot of great authors will be there. Hope you have a great time!

I've heard good things about The Fixer! I should get to it one of these days! :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, that's really awesome about the book festival. I hope you have a good time! And maybe also ask Victoria Schwab to stop torturing her characters and her readers! ;)
That book festival sounds amazing! You are going to have a great time! And The Fixer sounds sooo good. Hopefully one day I can get to it!
ReplyDeleteThat book festival sounds amazing! I wish book festivals came within range of me more often LOL! Oh and OMG THE O.C.! I used to LIVE for that show, just seeing the songs listed there was like a trip down memory lane! Thanks for the Jessica and have a great week^^ ♥
ReplyDeleteI have the Fixer on my TBR!!! THis makes me happy. AND T MINUS 4 DAYS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have an amazing time at the book festival! I haven't been to one, but I'm hoping I will soon :) The Fixer really looks good, so I'm so going to look into it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
The Fixer needs to go on my list, stat!
ReplyDeleteVictoria Schwab! That's going to be amazing! I'm so jealous ;)
OMG those The O.C soundtracks were life!!!! I adored them so much, damn girl I know what I'm listening to on my walk later!! I think JLB wrote The Naturals? If so I love her style of writing so must check out The Fixer asap (which means like three years in danielle land...SO behind on everything!)
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about The Fixer and have had a copy on my TBR shelf for months. I've not heard much about it so I'm glad to hear that you liked it, I'll have to move it up in my list now :) And The OC, I totally LOVED that show and your right that they had some of the BEST music!
ReplyDeleteThe Fixer has been on my radar for such a long time it seems like. But since you seemed to really enjoy it I feel more motivated to bump it up on the TBR list!
ReplyDeleteI swear one of these days you are absolutely going to disown me. I've never watched The OC. (Just like I had never watched (One Tree Hill or Alias or Gilmore Girls or Farscape or I really should stop before you actually DO disown me haha!) But I'm with you on finding music through shows. It's one of the reasons I love(d) watching MTV shows like Teen Wolf. They were always nice enough to display the song title, artist and album I believe whenever a song came on the show. Made for less research on my part lol!
I am soooo jealous about your festival I hope you have such a good time!!! :D
♥ the OC!!!! And The Fixer! That festival looks awesome, have so much fun!!! I just saw that Maggie Stiefvater will be there so I am insanely jealous !!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, The OC. I loved that show until they screwed it up royally in, what, the third season? Ugh. The music was fantastic. The book festival sounds like a blast! I hope you have a great time!!
ReplyDeleteThe Fixer was so great. So many different elements, ALL THE ACTION and Jennifer Lynn Barnes' writing <3 And Victoria Schwab is one of my favorite authors :D The festival sounds amazing; have fun!

My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
