For the first time in her life, social worker Lucia Lewis is ready to live. And the masquerade ball in Las Vegas is just the place to find a ridiculously hot guy to complete her wicked to-do list. The only rule? Her elegant Venetian mask—which conceals the scars that have always held her back from the life she deserves—stays on.

Navy SEAL Cade Daniels heads to Vegas on a mission to keep his best friend's little sister out of trouble. Except the woman he’s sent to find is all heat and flame…and perfectly capable of handling herself. And him. But the moment Lucia's mask slips, the need to heal her, body and soul, is complete and absolute temptation.

But revealing himself could cost him the one thing he isn't willing to risk...his heart.

I am always game for a Brazen and I have to say, this one was a fun and extremely sexy read! Sara Jane Stone does not hold back on the sexy times and I have to say I loved how she jumped right into them!

I felt for Lucia. She has decided to take a trip to Las Vegas for an exhilarating weekend in Sin City and all that entails. She attends a masquerade ball and plans to find a sexy man to fulfill her list of fantasies. She is approached by Cade Daniels, a sexier than sin Navy SEAL in a tuxedo who is all too willing to participate in her fantasies. However, Cade is there under false pretenses. He has been sent by his best friend, Natalie, who also happens to be Lucia's older sister. Natalie knows of Lucia's weekend plans and wants to make sure she stays out of trouble.

However, one look at the beautiful woman who tempts him like no other, and Cade knows he can't let her find some other man to do the things on her list with. He knows it's a betrayal to his best friend, but the more time he spends with Lucia, the more he wants to be the one to show her how beautiful and sexy she is, scars and all.

Neither Lucia nor Cade is looking for anything long-term. Cade doesn't believe he is capable of it, being a SEAL and seeing what that did to his family when his father served. Their deployments are long and most marriages and relationships cannot withstand the time and distance. Lucia just wants a weekend of fun and sexy times with a stranger before she returns to her life in Tennessee. She never expected to fall for Cade, but she can't help but relish in the way he makes her feel. He sees past her imperfections and empowers her and I really loved that about him.

My one issue with this one was that the relationship felt too rushed. The entire book takes place over the span of a weekend and Cade and Lucia are making declarations of love to one another. I would have preferred to see the more serious aspect of their relationship drawn out a bit more.

This is definitely a feel good story, especially considering Lucia's confidence issues. She's real and I'm sure a lot of women can identify with her. Cade is one of those guys that every woman dreams of having- a man who isn't afraid to use his actions and words to show her just how wonderful she is and what she deserves in her life.

Overall, while I felt some of it felt rushed, I did find this to be a sexy and fun read!

  2. Ooo, I'm excited to read this one! I think I still am? I dislike that the relationship was a bit rushed but I'm glad it was a sexy and fun read for you overall. Those declarations of love do seem a bit premature (a weekend?!). But still, another Brazen success, it sounds!

    Excellent review, Jess :)

    1. Yes! A weekend! I didn't love that. But it was a sexy read and I love that there was little to no buildup to sexy times! Haha.
