2016 Love-a-Thon Questionnaire
I am so excited to take part in the Love-A-Thon this year hosted by Alexa from Alexa Loves Books, Cee from The Novel Hermit, Hazel from Stay Bookish, and Mel from The Daily Prophecy!
This will be my second year participating and I can't wait to get to know some new bloggers and love on ones I've already met!
First up is a little About Me post!
Questionnaire
1. What is your name?
Jessica
2. Where in the world are you blogging from?
Tennessee
3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?
3 years ago I decided to start a blog as a means of remembering all the books I was blowing through at the time. As time went on, I became more involved in the community and it evolved from there.
4. How did you come up with your blog name?
I am a Spanish teacher, so I decided to add that into my blog name.
5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
I mainly read and review contemporary romance the most- YA, NA, and Adult. However, I do like to read and review plenty of others too. Those are just the ones I do the most of.
6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
This year has been geared toward getting myself excited about reading and blogging again! I started a new feature called The Monday Musts, where you give a must read book, a must listen (music, audiobook, etc.), and a must see (can be ANYTHING. Bookish, blogging, tv/film, youtube videos, etc.) I've been so happy to have other bloggers participating with me!
I also do W...W...W...Wednesday, which I altered a bit to better fit me. I answer three questions every week: 1. What are you currently reading? 2. What book did you recently finish? 3. What book are you waiting on?
I also do Weekly Wrap-Up posts and will occasionally do Top Ten Tuesday. I love to cook so I also feature a new recipe every week for Tasty Tuesday!
Sporadically, I'll do some different fun book-related posts like book tags, discussions, etc.
7. Best blogging experience so far?
In addition to attending BEA in 2014, I was asked to moderate the Boldly Bookish panel by Bloomsbury for authors Trish Doller, Emery Lord, A.C. Gaughen, and Tiffany Schmidt. It was so awesome to ask them questions and hang out with them beforehand!
8. Favorite thing about the blogging community?
The people I've met without a doubt. The friendships I've made are so important to me and I am so happy I have so many different people to talk books with! I have met some of my very best friends through blogging I could not function on a daily basis without them.
9. Name the 5 books you're most excited for this 2016!
1. The Goal by Elle Kennedy
2. Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
3. The Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent
4. The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5. Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge
10. Name the 5 books you want to read this 2016 that you didn't get to in previous years!
1. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
2. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
3. Wallflowers by Lisa Kleypas
4. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
5. Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross
11. What's an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
I just recently read Cori McCarthy's You Were Here and I absolutely loved it. It releases March 1st and I think it's one that could slip under the radar, but I'd hate for that to happen!
12. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
The boys from Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series: Garrett Graham, John Logan, Dean Di-Laurentis, and John Tucker! They are SO funny together. And great guys!
13. Which book boy or girl would be your book boyfriend/girlfriend?
Ryan Stone from Katie McGarry's Dare You To. I have so much love for that boy.
14. Who would you recruit for your apocalypse squad?
Dimitri Belikov, Rose Hathaway, Katsa, Hermione Granger, and The Darkling
(Dimitri, Rose, and Katsa are obviously the muscle, Hermione is the brains, and The Darkling is the one who will keep everyone alive because he's absolutely ruthless and will not show mercy.)

15. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies/interests?
I love to watch college football and basketball- I am a huge Tennessee Vol and Syracuse Orange fan. I love music, so I love going to shows and music festivals. I love to cook, travel, and spend time with my family and dog. I have an off/on relationship with World of Warcraft too. It's just something I've never been able to quit fully.
16. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
Food. I love to cook. Haha. I do like shopping for jewelry, shoes, scarves, and if I had unlimited funds I would buy all the Alex and Ani bracelets and Funko POP!s.
17. At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song- and it's your song. What song would be playing?
Ok. So. Those of you that follow my blog and/or Twitter probably know about my Hamilton obsession of late. So if the opening song 'Alexander Hamilton' came on, I would be standing on a table rapping my little heart out.
18. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
Hm. This is always such a tricky question. Having just read the Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn Fisher, I think I could so be down for that tv show. But I might actually throw something at my TV, so let's not. How about Emmy & Oliver? That would be such a good movie!
19. What would your dream library look like?
According to lonerwolf.com, this is George Lucas' private library. I love all the wood and leather! It just looks cozy to me!
20. Author you want to meet and sit down to tea coffee and drinks with?
I am not a tea drinker, so I'll change to coffee! I would totally go get coffee with Morgan Matson. She was so sweet to meet and I bet she'd be a lot of fun to talk to!
I'm stealing this from Wendy, but I would go get drinks with some of my romance ladies: Brighton Walsh, Emma Chase, Katy Evans, Megan Erickson, Lia Riley, Tessa Bailey, Elle Kennedy, and Jen Frederick.
(I can't even imagine how crazy that shit would be.)

I'd like to be in on those drinks too! We'd have so much fun. Also I can't believe I forgot about my alex and ani obsession! I think it's bc I don't wear them as much in the winter. But...I also forgot to mention football in my other interests and THAT is unacceptable so I'm off to change that.
ReplyDeleteYour apocalypse squad is awesome :)
You can totally come have drinks! :) We would have such a blast! I can't even imagine being in the same room as those women. LOL. I don't wear my bracelets as much either. But I do own a lot of 3/4 length sweaters, so I will then. You forgot football? What? Are you ok? LOL.
DeleteWow, it's amazing that you got to moderate a panel, it's a great accomplishment! I'm also really excited for The Flame Never Dies, the first book caught me by surprise since I didn't expect to love it as much as I did! I still need to read Illuminae to be excited about Gemina xD And OMG George Lucas' library! I'm so JEALOUS!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lucie! I was so honored to do that panel! I hope to do more in the future. Same for me on The Stars Never Rise! I was totally blown away! I hope you enjoy Illuminae! It's so good!
DeleteI used a very similar picture for my dream library! I love the whole spiral staircase thing. I also still have to read Mistborn. I got the whole series for Christmas but I still haven't gotten the chance to start them. :/
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
I am all about the multi level libraries! I think they are so great! Yay I'm not alone in not reading Mistborn! For a while I really thought I was the only one left! LOL.
DeleteHi, Jessica! You have got to read The Lunar Chronicles and The Wallflowers series! My favorite Wallflower is Secrets of a Summer Night! I love romance between the classes.
ReplyDeleteIs that George Lucas' library?! WOOOOAAAAHHH!!!!!
Is his library not AMAZING? I am so jealous. I wonder if he offers tours. LOL. And I am totally reading both those series soon! I have the first Wallflowers book from Overdrive and plan to read in the next week or so!
DeleteI love that your blog name is partly Spanish! Mine is too, and Spanish is currently my favorite subject and what I'm hoping to study in college!
ReplyDeleteYay! Hi my Spanish loving friend! That's so awesome you love it and are going to study it in college!
DeleteEEP! Being a Spanish teacher must be so much fun! I hope to learn the language someday. And we have two most-awaited books in common! The Goal & Gemina - CANNOT WAIT. Oh, and I'm reading The Lunar Chronicles this year too. I've only just begun Cinder. I really liked this post! AND OMG that library is just. *_* <3 #LoveAThon
ReplyDeleteIt really is Nia. I love doing it. Sometimes I miss hanging with adults, but the kids are pretty fantastic. The Goal and Gemina cannot come soon enough! Ah! And I've read Cinder too, but I need to go back and reread and then binge the series.
DeleteWrath & the Dawn is a must-read :)
ReplyDeleteI really need to read it soon! I don't know why I've been putting it off!
DeleteI wish I'd known about the Love-a-Thon sooner! Sometimes I live under such a rock. It's been fun following everyone's posts though. :)
ReplyDeleteAw Kim! Next year I promise I'll message you when I see sign ups go out! I really wish we could do it a few times a year!
DeleteI gotta get my butt in gear and read the rest of the Off-Campus series! I really, really, really, really, really loved The Deal (which is my favorite NA I've ever read), and I need more of the boys ;) I, too, want to check out the Mistborn series. I'm a little intimidated by it because everyone seems to love it so, and I want to love it to, but what if I don't? #readerproblems ALSO, I definitely think you should read The Lunar Chronicles. SO GOOD. So glad you've signed up to join us this year, and happy love-a-thon!
ReplyDeleteI think The Deal is my favorite too Alexa! It just breathed the freshest breath of air into NA! I hope you enjoy the other books as well! I cannot get enough! I'm with you on Mistborn. To be honest, I've tried to start it 3 or 4 times before and just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was my mindset then, but... still. And yes1 Totally planning on doing the Lunar Chronicles for one of my series this year!
DeleteI loved reading your list! Okay, I made sure to add You Were Here and The Problem with Forever to my TBR. :))
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna! :) I am so excited for everyone to read You Were Here! And I'm so jealous JLA has ARCs down in GA this weekend for Apollycon! I want that book so badly!
DeleteAhh I forgot about including Mistborn! Mistborn honestly sounds so good, and plus, I've heard nothing but good things about it! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that library....*gushes* I want to be in that library - those seats look so warm and inviting!
Hope your LoveAThon was fantastic!
Geraldine @ Corralling Books
Thanks Geraldine! I had such a great Love-a-thon! It was so much fun! And yes to Mistborn! I am determined to make time for it this year!
DeleteThere were a whole lot of ''YESES'' going on while I was reading this post: YES TO BEA, YES to MISTBORN, GEMINA, LUNAR CHRONICLES, The Wrath & the Dawn, MEETING other bloggers (♥) and THAT LIBRARY *swoon* Awesome post girl, loved getting to know you better :)
ReplyDeleteYAY thanks Micheline! :) I had so much fun doing this post and I love getting to know everyone on a different level! I really wish I were doing BEA again this year! I had SO much fun! And now that I know more people, it would just be a huge social gathering. LOL
DeleteLeave me some comment love! And I will get around to commenting back!
My blog is an award-free blog, however, as I just do not have the time to follow-up.
